Why did they change her hair from blonde to red?

If the chosen Femshep had blue instead of green eyes, I'd've seriously considered to do a femshep playthrough.

But if this guy is being serious, he has more issues than any misogynist. I think his elitist attitude makes that pretty clear.
And since everyone thinks that the whole voting thing was a bad idea, I disagree. I think it's great that they did it. Honestly, the amount of people who are complaining are vastly out-numbered by the people who are happy with the outcome. It's just that people who are happy don't have to tell everyone how happy they are. I didn't vote myself because I don't use facebook, and I'm pretty happy with the results. Neither are what I would have voted for, but the end result still looks great. Can't wait to do a playthrough with her.
Now let's all move on with our lives and stop complaining that you're not in the majority, and rather thank Bioware that you had a chance to be heard at all.

I'm just glad to say that she gets her own cover and a trialer, because a couple of months ago. A lot of us campaigned on this forum's for that very reason and I'm glad Bioware took that to heart.

I'm bitterly disappointed that she's no longer blonde -- i'll be doubly so if it's because of the prejudice of the fanbase.

I'm wondering if this is the reason a second round of voting was set up, because it was never mentioned that we'd get to decide on hair colour in the beginning.
That's the long and short of it. BW backed down from letting the fans pick the one they wanted after all the "she's a bimbo" crying so they just picked the one they wanted. The blonde hair, blue eyed Shep with a beauty mark has far and away more votes than any other option, yet we are getting a red headed, green eyed Shep with freckles. Go figure.....

Bioware cannot please everyone sadly, I personally prefer black hair but I don't give a **** about the hair colour people have problem with such minor details and don't realise that they can have a custom Shepard that is NOT blonde its what charcter customsation (spelling) is for
I have a problem with it because BioWare have apparently pandered to the misogynistic yelping of a vocal minority of fans.
I can't overstate how disgusting it is, really. My girlfriend is blonde, and was kind of offended when i told her about it.

With the amount of threads about PosterFemShep's hair color, it's amazing how many people didn't know that Mass Effect has an excellent character creation feature.

Why do you assume they made the poll to "give in" to blonde hate? Bioware stated that the poll was made because a lot of people showed interest in FemShep 5 with a different hair color. That's it. I'm pretty sure stupid blonde hate had nothing to do with it and there's no reason to suspect it does.
Tell your girlfriend not to be offended by the 2nd poll. I really don't think it was "pandering to haters", though that is the exciting way to see it isn't it.
Sheesh, people are so dramatic.

It's even more amazing that so many people miss the point.
I have no intentions of playing as female Shepard at all.

Well, you'll never get answers now, right or wrong they made their decision despite the overwhelming victory in the voting. They were afraid the barbieShep meme would catch on so now were stuck with chuckieShep.

I found the whole thing to be so pointless.
They went from red to blond to red again. *gasp* Dramatic changes!
This is mostly how I feel, but there's still a bit of anger that they went and threw away a model that looked good.
I mean, seriously, the red doesn't look that good. Doesn't look good in the render, doesn't look good in that artwork.
