This is mostly how I feel, but there's still a bit of anger that they went and threw away a model that looked good.

I mean, seriously, the red doesn't look that good. Doesn't look good in the render, doesn't look good in that artwork.

It doesn't look as natural as the blonde, and if they are going to use a red head they should use the red head from the first poll.  Looked a lot better than the red head in vote 2.

Oh, and one thing, people? I don't think the "Just create a custom character! Mass Effect has an excellent character creator!" argument is very good.

Because I thought it was commonly agreed that Mass Effect's character creator is kind of blegh. I find it too limited, and it's plain as day the difference in quality between Sheploo and custom Shepards.

Still, we don't know what it will look like in ME3, so there's that.

That's my only real complaint as well, since femShep is finally getting a quality default it would have been nice to get the one people voted for.  Of course we don't even know this is the case yet, it might just be a custom config of the existing femShep models and textures at which point I wouldn't care anymore.

It's all just useless complaining, blonde won,but there was interest in seeing that style with a different color,so because they made a new poll, there is a conspiracy and BW hates blondes, so instead of just accepting and moving on about something as silly as a box, they make up "omg but we said deal with it why is she red now" or stupid math equations.

Oh no, there's no way this Shepard will be made from the character creator in ME3. That was the entire point of this vote, to give FemShep a model comparable in quality to Sheploo.

Red is the color it should be to begin with.

For starters, the original FemShep default was red. Also, Jennifer Hale's running gag is that she voices a lot of redheaded characters.

And the point of the first vote to pick the one we wanted to see in game.  That point changed pretty quickly. :P

I wouldn't be surprised if it goes either way, they might just use one of the new hair styles and call it done.  I actually wouldn't be terribly surprised by that, and would be quite a bit of justice served if in fact that does happen.

If they do go through the trouble of making a high quality one they should at least keep the characteristics of the one that won the first vote (since as everyone is saying the second vote was only about hair color) and give her the blue eyes and beauty mark instead of freckles.  I assume I'd be able to change the hair to blonde on my own with Gibbed.

Why doesn't someone just ask if we can customize default femshep?

That would be an option too (one I suggested during the raging blonde hate that prompted the second vote).  I seem to recall them saying that wasn't doable.  They should though, that would solve the whole problem so long as they had a high quality non-freckled skin texture as well.

It doesn't matter if she was blonde or red or black. Whoever had that hair style was going to win

I have a problem with it because BioWare have apparently pandered to the misogynistic yelping of a vocal minority of fans.

I can't overstate how disgusting it is, really. My girlfriend is blonde, and was kind of offended when i told her about it.

Your girlfriend is offended because Bioware decided to hold another vote because loads of people were wanting number five’s hairstyle, but wanted another color? She was offended because in the second vote the blond lost by an embarrassing amount, sort of proving the reason for the second vote? Or is she offended because a small group of people made derogatory remarks about blondes on the interwebs? Why exactly would she be offended by any of the above?Image IPB

And if Bioware made the second poll for a vocal minority, then why didn’t the non-vocal majority still vote for the blond?

Yep I agree. It would have been interesting to see that hair on the other faces.

You know that you can create a femShep with red hair and blue eyes.  My canon femShep is set up that way.

With the amount of threads about PosterFemShep's hair color, it's amazing how many people didn't know that Mass Effect has an excellent character creation feature.

What?
People could have different opinion, but there's no way that the ME CC could be defined as "excellent".
On topic, at this point Bioware will not change (again) the default femshep. The only thing that people could hope is that the CC will be (finally) good.
Anyway, in my opinion Bioware should've simply upgrades the previous default femshep, or choose a new default by themselfe, making the new default with similar features of the previous. So this idiotic thing of the facebook polls (both of them) and all the rage that was present wouldn't happened.

It seems that my fears were confirmed, so thanks for the responses.

It's unfortunate that the worst of the fanbase is always the loudest, like the body armour-fundamentalists that want to revert to the ME1 attires, and the misogynistic bigots that don't believe a blonde haired woman can do anything but worry about her nails.

Sigh.

I don't have a problem with FemShep being blond...

But what's this got to do with squadmates wearing armor? I continually fail to understand why anyone would be against the inclusion of armor. (I understand not wanting ME1's Armor sets, but why shouldn't each character have an individual set?) Is wearing armor too prude or something?

I don't think it's prude to wear something that'll stop shrapnel from tearing your body apart. This is suppose to be Sci-Fi, not Fantasy where you have a magic spell that gives you stoneskin. And from what's been established so far in the ME universe you still need to wear armor as there are no biological enhancements that make people's skin bullet proof.

So yeah when characters don't it looks pretty stupid. Doesn't need to be Master Chief bulky, but you know something that at least has some light plating. And I fail to understand why characters couldn't maintain their individuality and or look sexy with such if that's the concern of having "armor".

Wow, this is still going? Again, the guy is a troll. Like it has been said, hairstyle 5 was the best, they gave us more options later because we asked for more options. The fact that the original vote gave us 6 out of hundreds of possibilities is pretty limiting, and we wanted more than that, so we got it. If this had been set up much earlier I think it would have been cool to see a lot more options, possibly in a tourny style vote off. But we got the best they could do in such a short time. Like it or don't, it doesn't matter, just be happy Bioware gave a crap at all, most companies don't.
And seriously stop feeding the troll. If this is really that upsetting to him, he has bigger issues.

She is offended by the thought that many people on this forum seem to hold. Namely that blonde women are somehow incapable. That they can't be strong leaders, and that they can't think about anything other than their hair and make up.

She is offended by the fact that this neanderthalic line of thinking has been allowed to shape the design of the female Shepard.

We didn't vote because we were not aware a second poll even existed.

Take your baseless accusations elsewhere, fool. There are plenty of other threads to enjoy if this one isn't to your liking.

By attempting to sow discord in my thread, you're the one engaging in troll-like behaviours. Please stop.

Ignoring that you can make your Shepard blonde and still have your strong leader-type,this whine-fest about this "discrimination" against blondes is unfounded,as the old saying goes

"You snooze you lose."

Take your own advice and "deal with it" ,because it isn't that big a deal.

It's wise to "ignore the fact that you can make your Shepard blonde" because that's not what this is about. I'm not going to play as a woman, and if i was i would probably give her dark hair like my own.

The problem is that misogyny has directly influenced the creation process, and that is simply not good. It was never the plan to hold a second round of voting.

I'm simply too good of a human being to be content with this outcome.

If it didn't, that wouldn't be a problem.

It's only a problem because it did. We've all seen the "barbie" posts, so i'm not interested in your justifications.

I can appreciate that you're happy because you got your way, but as Thane said "pure results come from pure methods" and there is nothing pure about this.

1)  You don't play as a female at all and you are complaining about misogny for others?
2) If you did play as a woman you would have dark hair.

You're nuts.

What about the people who wanted femshep number one, like me? Did you see the things they said about her? In case you missed it: lesbian, lesbian truck driver, ******, butch etc. So obviously, if you have short hair, you can’t be efficient at saving the universe because you’re too busy shopping for sleeveless shirts and driving trucks.

I am a natural redhead, and have you seen all the people throwing around the word ginger? Or talking about how disgusting freckles are. Or how they don’t want a soulless Shepard, etc. I am not offended by what some people on the internet says about my particular hair color. It doesn’t effect my daily life and when I shut off my computer, I cease to think about it.

Or what about the people who wanted the black Shepard? Did you see the Rhianna jokes?

Or what about all the people who imply on this forum on a daily bases about how if your boob size is over a C cup, then you must be a bimbo! If you show cleavage, you must be a bimbo! If you wear heels, you must be a bimbo! If you wear your hair down, you must be a bimbo!

Look at the mods that made Isabela from DA2 whiter, because they didn’t want to look at her darker skin.

FFS, stop acting like the blondes are being burned in effigy because they didn’t win the second vote. Get over it, seriously. Blondes are not the new poster child for the ill used and abused.

The rest of it, as far as Bioware only changed it because of a small group of people who were whining and moaning, I don’t believe that. Why don’t I? Because a few choice people here who have a bitterness about their blond not winning have whined enough for 100,000 votes and it still hasn’t changed.

Why are people getting pissy about this? Bioware was right, the majority of people only wanted the hair not the colour, that's why the majority of people voted for the red head.
