Why did they change her hair from blonde to red?

So we're both on the same page here, you are upset because people complained about blondshep, which prompted the new round where redshep won, and that upset your girlfriend and, by association, yourself. You claim that Bioware gave into the misogynistic mindset of a handful of whiners. Dissenters have said that Bioware started the new round because many voters said they preferred the hairstyle but not the hair color, and that they voted for it in spite of the color, not because of it. You appeared to have ignored such opinions. There lies my problem with you currently.
If your gf is legitimately upset about a handful of users who can't get behind a blond Shep purely because they don't believe blonds can be awesome too, I am sorry. Those complaints specifically are not why they next round was held however, and I suggest your gf not take to heart the comments of those few as they do not need to be given any amount of legitimacy. I do hope this settles things.

I voted for #1, and we know how that went down,so no,I did not "get my way"blacqout wrote...
If it didn't, that wouldn't be a problem.
It's only a problem because it did. We've all seen the "barbie" posts, so i'm not interested in your justifications.
I can appreciate that you're happy because you got your way, but as Thane said "pure results come from pure methods" and there is nothing pure about this.

She is offended by the thought that many people on this forum seem to hold. Namely that blonde women are somehow incapable. That they can't be strong leaders, and that they can't think about anything other than their hair and make up.
She is offended by the fact that this neanderthalic line of thinking has been allowed to shape the design of the female Shepard.
We didn't vote because we were not aware a second poll even existed.
What about the people who wanted femshep number one, like me? Did you see the things they said about her? In case you missed it: lesbian, lesbian truck driver, ******, butch etc. So obviously, if you have short hair, you can’t be efficient at saving the universe because you’re too busy shopping for sleeveless shirts and driving trucks.
I am a natural redhead, and have you seen all the people throwing around the word ginger? Or talking about how disgusting freckles are. Or how they don’t want a soulless Shepard, etc. I am not offended by what some people on the internet says about my particular hair color. It doesn’t effect my daily life and when I shut off my computer, I cease to think about it.
Or what about the people who wanted the black Shepard? Did you see the Rhianna jokes?
Or what about all the people who imply on this forum on a daily bases about how if your boob size is over a C cup, then you must be a bimbo! If you show cleavage, you must be a bimbo! If you wear heels, you must be a bimbo! If you wear your hair down, you must be a bimbo!
Look at the mods that made Isabela from DA2 whiter, because they didn’t want to look at her darker skin.
FFS, stop acting like the blondes are being burned in effigy because they didn’t win the second vote. Get over it, seriously. Blondes are not the new poster child for the ill used and abused.
The rest of it, as far as Bioware only changed it because of a small group of people who were whining and moaning, I don’t believe that. Why don’t I? Because a few choice people here who have a bitterness about their blond not winning have whined enough for 100,000 votes and it still hasn’t changed.
No. I seldom visit these forums, so didn't see any of those comments.
Though if i did, you can rest assured that i would have spoken out against them just as i am the decision to de-blonde Shepard.

Miranda was supposed to be blond, but it didn't match her outfit, that doesn't make it anti-blonde as you will certainly claim.blacqout wrote...

No man,it's been said BW is predjudiced against blondes, and the desire to please everyone is misogyny.thatguy212 wrote...
Hasn't it been said somewhere that the hairstyle will be available to use in the character creator? so you can still make a blonde shepard with the hairstyle, it just won't be the shepard used in marketing

Funny you say that. My girlfriend's xbox avatar wears the Miranda outfit and it looks fine. Yvonne looks better blonde too, so i'm not sure i buy the "it doesn't match" argument.

Yep! If you make your Shepard blond, there you have it.
Barring that, why should there be a prominant blond character just for the sake of having one? You know, the absence of something does not equate a prejudice.

The blonde Shep apparently won because everybody seemed to like the longer hair. Then people had a huge snit that Shep was blonde because that meant she was a "barbie" (their word, not mine).
It was such a big stink that Bioware decided to hold another round to decide hair color.
All I have to say is... Thank the Maker the voting is done.
But 4 and 6 had longer hair than that, why didn't they get nearly as many votes?

Lame. The model looked better blonde,
and the idea that a person's abilities and skills are decided by their
hair colour has less credibility than nominative determinism.
It's
not about abilities and skills, it's the general view of a blonde's
personality and how they act, their public image. Which isn't good and
it would be a shame for such things to be associated with Shepard.
At least, that's how I feel.

I was just curious really. There are a few strong female blonde characters in the Dragon Age series, so i wasn't going to accuse BioWare of anything.
Just a loud portion of a fanbase that i'm increasingly embarrassed to belong to.

Well, that is your opinion after all. I think Miranda looks better with darker hair. My opinion. See? One of these things are not like the other...or are they?

It's wise to "ignore the fact that you can make your Shepard blonde" because that's not what this is about. I'm not going to play as a woman, and if i was i would probably give her dark hair like my own.
The problem is that misogyny has directly influenced the creation process, and that is simply not good. It was never the plan to hold a second round of voting.
I'm simply too good of a human being to be content with this outcome.
Ok, I'm going to put this down right now.
I'm disappointed with the way BioWare handled this, but it's pretty insignificant to me now. I'll just make a custom Shepard and be fine.
You need to stop throwing around words like mysoginistic and accusing the majority of hating blondes so much that they influenced BioWare. You're really making it more dramatic than it was - even if there was immense dislike for blonde hair, there's no reason to think genuine hatred came into if for so many of them. It's a matter of aesthetics, and not everyone feels the same way.
You think you're "too good of a human being"? Seriously? This makes me think you're joking now. Get over yourself.

Yes, using my powers to predict the future i have determined that one of the new squadmembers in ME3 will be a blonde human female, possibly an N7, although some fans will question whether she was always going to be blonde or if this is an attempt to quiet whining fansblacqout wrote...

For as far as FemShep is concerned - unless BioWare is going to allow players to apply the default look to imported FemSheps, this whole discussion is moot. That is, unless anyone here is seriously considering playing ME3 without importing a FemShep from ME1 and ME2.
