DA3: Hero and Companions. Who do you hope for?

So, if we are a seeker...
1. Cassandra
2. Leliana
3. Cullen
but I think playing a seeker could cripple being a mage, or having mage companions. Unless they give a reason why it is ok for seekers to travel with mages. Or even if they are anti-mage, do we know?
If something else...
1. Carver/Bethany
2. Rhys
3. Charade, maybe.
Everyone else should be new.

Considering DA2 had three returning characters from Origins being a companion I expect DA3 may fit the same bill.

There are going to be mages like Wynne who are loyalists and they won't be willing to break away from the Chantry. Mages like Wynne see the Chantry/Templars as protection for mages from the general population. So, if we do play as a Seeker any mage companion and PC could be a circle mage like Wynne. We might even get Wynne back. Fine with me. I liked Wynne myself, even though I know alot of people didn't. Finn would also fit this need. He is a circle mage. We could also get a new mage circle companion.
I think DG will kill Wynne off in the new book coming in December. We'll have to wait and see.

Or she dies and she asks the spirit to go with her son to protect him. Maybe, Ser Pounce finds a new owner after all with Wynne's son.
Edit: Spelling.

Ha, that'd be much better than my dumb idea. DA3 needs Ser-pounce!
I don't know, Ser Pounce is traveling around with the Warden right now. He is in your inventory up until the end of WH. So if he shows up, that might mean my warden is actually dead.
Hmmm, let's just have the Spirit go with Wynne's son. Maybe we'll get a new furry friend.

Perhaps the PC can have a mabari and a kitty, there could be plenty of cutscenes about that. Dog is always great.

That would be great, the dog and cat battling each other with pranks. Who can outdo each other. I'd love that. We're going to prove once and for all who is really superior cats or dogs! Hehehe!

For some reason when i was reading this, i got the sudden picture in my head of Rhys holding Ser Pounce above his head shouting "I HAVE THE POWER!!!!." Then there is a flash of light and he turns into the Anders from Awakening.

LOL
I love Anders so it wouldn't bother me to see this.

So far, the closest we have experienced to having a Templar companion is Alistair and Wesley. Alistair is an ex-Templar who is not only quite disparaging about the Order, but was really thrown into the group and never really felt comfortable with their creed. Wesley seemed to understand very little about the Templar's role in protecting human life, by attempting to arrest Bethany when an entire party of civilians were attempting to escape the Blight rather than keeping an eye on her for later. Even Aveline bemoans the presence of paranoid, misguided Templars in Kirkwall (albiet, they're Meredith's extremists).
Though I understand many Templars may not get to see a lot of action, due to their posting being primarily in large cities, the new Chantry-less Templars are perhaps more seasoned warriors. In this dark, post-DA2 world it seems every sword will be bared, and the Templars are primarily a military order. A Templar (or perhaps even one of those stealthy Templar Hunters to buck the stereotype?) ultra-compentant companion that balances strong, military sense and zeal would really interest me.

Some one like Dworkin Glavonak the Mad. A rogue class dwarf with a "grenadier" specialization. It would essentially make him/her a mage and that's the beauty of it.
Hah, a Dwarven bombardier class would be pretty sweet actually.

I think it would make for quite a brilliant character class to play with come to think of it, would make a pleasant change from sword weilding rogues and warriors and staff weilding mages.

didnt read it all but from the start, i read: Blood mage, healer?! I generally consider blood mages either corrupted by their need for power, Driven to the use of blood magic by a threat on their life, or using it as the only weapon against an unfair world. In which case, the blood mage would focus completly on damaging magic, not h ealing magic.
A blood mage healer would be awesome. I did have my Hawke be bloodmage/spirit healer at first and she owned, but I decided that I would rahter just have one spec for story reasons, but it would make for an interesting companion and not all blood mages is corrupt. (Thinks Alain)
I could easily imagine a nice Tevinter who has fled from his/her country because they are appalled of the slavery and has learned healing, but knows bloodmagic because of being a Tevinter.
Actually I would also like Alain as a companion. I liked the kid, but I think he is killable

Dagna! She can come back as a "rogue" companion complete with a grenadier specialization. The first Dwarven mage! She'll have all the base rogue trees and for her spec she tosses different lyrium bombs that can mimic a mages' elemental powers!

I can agree with some of these points but a good guy blood mage would have to be very limited as to when they can use their abilities, imo. They would only use them in times of great crisis as they know the cost. Especially if they are a healer as healers are meant to be preserves of life, not manipulators of it.
One could argue that it would be easier to preserve life if you know how to manipulate it. But I think that I would be an interesting companion. We are talking about companions here...

It's not completely unthinkable. I had a blood mage Warden who from a gameplay persepective I relegated to using Blood Magic only on Darkspawn. Of course the Warden was "my" character (moreso than Hawke, companions, ect.), but it isn't unthinkable. Alain and Jowan are the best examples of "good" blood mages. So there is precedent. And like mentioned before it could be character with 2 conflicting modes like Panacea/Vengence.

Cassandra (I think she's a given)
Leliana (If Cass is in then it's likely Leliana will be as well, being a seeker. Unless she quit)
Someone from DA2 who wasn't already playable
Charade (Although I'd prefer her in an expansion fighting along Hawke's side)
