Hi guys, I really need help.
I wanna rename the .bik files in the
movie folder so I dont get the movies/logo screens everytime I start the
game. I know that I have to locate the .bik files in the movie folder
in my mass effect directory... problem is: I can't find the movie folder
for some reason. My operating system is windows 7. When I had windows
xp I had no problem finding the movie folder.

In short: Help me please. How do I find the movie folder in windows 7?

I don't want and I don't need to see these movies everytime I play a new character.

Here's a ModManager...

Oops, I think I misread your post. You want to cut out the beginning movies (locked in for new characters)...sorry about that.

(re-edit: Definitely check out the next guy's post. I would definitely feel much better using RCW's ModManager to do this type of stuff. I've used it for other "tweaks" and it works perfectly. Much safer, as it's coded to edit and replace things the "right way". Here's the link to RCW's MM: social.bioware.com/project/1998/#files )
(edit: Okay, let me start by saying, tampering with your ME2 game's install is dangerous, at best, but I don't see why this wouldn't work...):innocent:

You can use this program (RadTools) to find which file you want (I'm assuming there is no sound in some of the videos intentionally, because some of mine don't have sounds associated with them):

www.radgametools.com/bnkdown.htm

You could try the ones in:

(your game directory)\\Mass Effect™ 2\\BioGame\\Movies

and then do the old "backup vid files first, then replace the big ones with the little ones" trick...

Take the smallest video file and make a copy. Then, after you've backed up the big files (I'm guessing one of the opening movies is "opening_Seq_Int") and delete it (you copied it somewhere else safe first, right?) and then take that little video file you copied and rename it to the original big file's name.

Repeat, getting rid of all the big video files you don't want to watch, and you should be set.

The catch: shouldn't be one. You should just see your short little vid (as long as you get the names right anyway; most game engines don't check a video file's size before playing it; I could be wrong...). Not much else to do after that. Unless you screw something up, then you'll be back here whinging that you didn't back up your video files, or you changed the name of all of them and forgot what they were originally called. <_< (Just copy your entire MOVIE directory somewhere else way away first....)

Oh, and yes, depending on your level of expertise (or lack thereof) you might completely botch your ME2 install and have to start all over from scratch.  I am NOT responsible if that happens.

Start small, change one file at a time, and check it out in game. Be patient. Don't point any nasty crooked fingers my way.<3

Actually, you can do this with a mod manager (I use RCW's).
Try the Modding is Possible thread(s), I think there are some links to coalesced editors, that type of thing. This involves opening your Coalesced.ini in ..........\\Mass Effect 2\\BioGame\\Config\\PC\\Cooked with an editor.

Anyway this is what you are after if you use RCW's mod manager:

###FILE:..\\BIOGame\\Config\\PC\\Cooked\\BIOEngine.ini
[FullScreenMovie]
+SkippableMovies=Opening_End_Seq
+SkippableMovies=Opening_End_SeqFM
+SkippableMovies=Opening_Seq_INT
+SkippableMovies=Opening_Seq
+SkippableMovies=ProNor_Pod2
+SkippableMovies=ProNor_Shepard_Rebuilt
+SkippableMovies=ProNorEscape
+SkippableMovies=ProNorEscapeAsh
+SkippableMovies=ProNorEscapeKaid
+SkippableMovies=ME2_Opening_SunMid
+SkippableMovies=ME2_Opening_SunMid_ESN
+SkippableMovies=ME2_Opening_SunMid_INT

One other thing: Somewhere in the opening cutscenes, the headmorph from Mass Effect 1 is imported. So if you skip everything, your custom face from Mass 1 might be stuffed and you will have to chose the default appearance.
