I wrote about this on DA wikia. In Act 3 you have the least options to choose the outcome. Except Final mission, everything is on rails. Only interesting thing is meeting with Nathanial, Alistair, Zevran. You know. Cameos.

Chapter 3 of DA2 is...the worst of all the Dragon Age done to date. You are warned.

If you haven't enjoyed the first 2 acts, then it is very unlikely that you would enjoy the third.

Act 2 was easily the best part of the game. The Arishok is actually a cool grey character on par with Loghain I think. I had no issues with the story/writing of the 2nd Act so much.

But Act 3? A drunk 13 year old writing fan fiction could have done a better ending.

Act 1 is mediocre, Act 2 is great and Act 3 is among the worst things produced in the 21th century, no joke.

In my humble opinion: no.

Thats strange. I thought act 2 was actually really strong, and was absolutely excellent in terms of story, and portraying a slow build up in tension between the Qunari and the Kirwallers. If you didn't like act 2, you will despise act 3. Play it anyway, just to see what happens, but the only enjoyable part of act 3 was the boss fights (there's a couple of really good ones). The actual story and character development in act 3 does not belong in a Bioware game.

Although after Act 3, the game does get a lot better with the Legacy dlc. Some really interesting lore in that.

The only thing I liked about Act3 was the final boss fight....
Even though the plot for everything up to that point was very shakey....
And although the final boss is a little too.... anvilicious? Their dialogue during the final fight was... amazing.
Not to mention that the final fight was very beautifully choreographed and dramatic.

Expectations are different for every gamer. Sorry OP if you found that DA 2 was not to your liking. I really consider it a disappointment myself because nothing was fixed from DA:O while Bioware broke some of the features I enjoyed. To me, it turned out to be a pale shadow of what it could of been.

lol yeah, if you didn't enjoy act 2 at all then just stop playing the game now. Hell, if you did enjoy act 2 it's probably best to just stop playing anyways.

Act 2 had practically zilch to do with the Mage-Templar conflict.

Act 3 isn't that bad. That said it's got nothing on the landsmeet quest ending of Dragon Age.

What is the Battle of Denerim than, if Final battle in DA2 is dramatic? Super ultra mega dramatic! LOL

I found it the most interesting, however. The Mage / Templar conflict really didn't draw me in at all. Templars are bungholes, every mage is a blood mage and I had constant whining about each side from a few of my party members. By the time I got to the end of the game I wanted everyone to kill each other and for Hawke to leave Kirkwall like he should have years ago.

I didn't mind act 3 (but I'm in that fun/quiet forum minority that enjoyed the game throughout). I like that things that you have seen developing over the in game years start to come to a very explosive :wizard: climax. My favourite part of Act 3 isn't so much the over-arching story though, its the way the companions change and grow...especially Anders and Merrill.

Act 2 in my mind is the best out of a bad bunch.

Act one was rather silly to say the least for me it basically comes down to running up hill, watch cinematic, fight a [couple] people skip a year then collect some money.

Act 2 was as said the best of a bad bunch it was semi interesting but by no means interesting enough to validate the shambles of the rest of the game or the actual gameplay elements themselves for me but story wise I was ok with the Arishok.

Act 3 is basically where most people end up farting rainbows filled with expletives because it's seriously tiny, extremely linear even the last choice is horribly forced and caused so many people to put dollar bills in swear jars that if collected would make someone as rich as bill gates. It was just seriously tacky and by far the worst part about the entire game.

Luckily it seems [guessing because have no intention of investing more money into DA2 or it's DLCs] people say the Legacy DLC is quite good it's just a shame that it will cost you more money on top of what already spent for the core game in order to get something that is good enough according to others to have been the mechanics of the main game in the first place.

Okay dheer, you made me laugh so hard! I felt the same way about the mage/templar conflict. In fact I still could care less. Kill each other, please. The only ones I care about are in Ferelden where they seem to have some smaller semelence of sanity (not by much, Uldred, afterall. But Greagoir did let you save Irving and not do the rite. If they had been in Kirkwall the tower would have had the rite performed, EVERY mage would have freaked out and become an abomnation, and they would have blown up the tower). Seriously, that storyline was my least favorite, and the one they tried to push the hardest.

I much preferred Act 2, OP. And I liked the thaig and it's yummy possible implications (magic dealing dwarves who may have helped make the first darkspawn anyone), but they didn't give me enough for it. If you didn't enjoy Act  2 then Act 3 is not going to make you like the game either.  It is one big WTF at the end. And for me, the boss fights should have been one depending on whose side you took instead of two. And they had the feel of an MMORPG, which is meh for me (if I want I'll go play WoW again).

As I don't like telling people what to think, my advice is to play Act 3 and make up your own mind. But, you did ask, and you have been forewarned.

If you don't like it by the end of 2, 3 probably won't change your mind.

It get's sort of interesting in a 'how the frack did they think <insert crappy mechanic/plot device here> was going to make this game good'? The game is wretched but it does have interesting moments (like reused map content) that when looked at objectively, really speaks to the kind of disdain this developer has for it's client base. It's not even a "we fracked up, sorry" kind of thing either. These things were purposefully put into the game because Bioware thinks we are all retarded. I find these kinds of things interesting. If you mean interesting in a good way then, no, the game is a waste of hard drive space.

Sorry OP, but I found this game just as interesting as DA:O.
