Hi!

Sorry folks, i know, this is the wrong forum, but unfortunately i dont have access to the ME1&2 strategy board, since I have to register a game for that, but due to some nebulous reasons I can only register a copy of ME2 and not my ME1...

Anyway. I'm playing as an infiltrator and would like to know if it makes more sense to let myself or my team skill electronics and decryption. On one hand, my squad may possibly change some time, on the other hand, as the main  character I need many skill points for conversation, spectre training and last but not least sniper and pistols.

What do you think?

Thanks, Lloyd

I generally make sure I role with squaddies that have those skills. It's only Ashley and Wrex who don't have either of those skills anyway.

You might want to take a look at this thread if you're not planning the character for multiple playthroughs.

http://social.biowar...1/index/5628294

It lists some single playthrough builds. I generally let my squad mates carry the decryption/electronics load until I have my defensive (read armor and immunity) and offensive (read pistol and sniper rifle) skills in place. Kaidan is a solid choice for that, since he can also provide some biotic crowd control. Tali also works well. Garrus takes a little longer to develop since he has to put points into first aid to unlock electronics.

As far as registration goes, you can't register ME1 on the new boards. It was only registerable on the old Bioboards, which have been shutdown.

Alright, thanks.

I thought to focus on two different teams: either Kaidan and Ash, for missions where more combat skills are needed or Garrus and Liara for more Biopower. (Maybe also Tali and Wrex if I want extreme tech-orientation).

I case of the first or second team: does it make sense to give BOTH electronics and decryption to one of them or would this be a waste of skillpoints (which Kaidan needs as well for his Bio-Stuff and Garrus for Rocking with Assault Rifles on the Front), so i should learn at least one of these two, e.g. electronics?

edit: a second question - for characters with no armor skill like kaidan and liara. is it important to raise the electronics skill to give them shield protection?

If you want max biotics (with tech support) go Kaidan + Liara. If you want max tech (with 0 biotics) Garrus + Tali. For max combat, Ash+Wrex.

You should also note, that most of the planets with side missions, you can revisit if you don't have enough skill for the unlock.

Electronics is more important for Tali and Garrus, rather than Kaidan and Liara. The biotics all three get barrier, which at master level will provide 1000 points of extra shields, and can be kept up constantly with a good amp and medical exoskeletons (armor mod). Tali will have the best shields in game once you max out her class skill and electronics.

I always stop skill point allocation for decryption/electronics at 9. That is enough to unlock everything and have master overload/sabotage.

The other thing to consider is that the tech skills actually make fights quite a bit easier.   Sabotage opponents to overheat their weapons(can't shoot if their gun is overheated).  Overload reduces shields quite a bit as well as reducing the protection from their armor.  Tali's hacking can completely break certain fights, involving geth, since with master hacking you can take over anything but a geth prime or colossus.

The only time in the game where it's useful for you to have decryption yourself is a very small section on the planet Virmire when you're just sitting around without any squad members and there are a couple of objects that you can decrypt.

Otherwise only if you're going full-out Engineer, then I guess it's useful because chances are you're going to have Liara and Ashley as squad members and they're way more useful with other skills.

There are plenty of reasons to have decryption and electronics for Shep. There are several fights where having more than one sabotage is quite useful, plus it gives you much greater flexibility in your squad choices, since you can handle the the unlocking yourself, you could run with Wrex and Ash or Liara. Shep can also get some class bonuses to area of effect and damage that other characters can't.
