That is not legitimate at all. Sometimes it's the woman's fault. Saying that doesn't make a man a rape supporter.

Well, that proved your moral worth in a hurry. Thanks for shortening any questions I may have had.

Your welcome, though moral worth is subjective and not valid for anything..

Have you ever read a peer-reviewed piece of feminist literature written by an academic?

I have read Feminist political theory, specifically International Relations, and I have to say it's meh. Like very meh.

I do not see how long hair is now a feminist agenda (which apparently was said with sarcasm). If anything, I'd think the opposite would be true.

And it wasn't meant at that.

As a man, I find it pretty insulting to imply that we are so weak that a woman can somehow force us to rape her, without us having any control of our actions. Even if she might not be deliberately trying to seduce, but ends up doing it, to imply that men have no responsibility because they can't control themselves is insulting.

Whoa, supporting long hair in a VIDEO GAME (when Shepard is no longer in the freaking military no less) makes one a feminist now? This changes everything.

'Feminism' is one term that's overused/misused a lot on BSN....mainly by those that have never read a real feminist piece of literature.  :pinched:

You mean like this?

I am a rape-supporter cause i watch pornography in which women are depicted...  i know most  feminists are not like this but that list is overkill.

But at the matter at hand, why Femshep and Ashley should´t use long hair?i know the helmets wounld´t fit, hair in front of the eyes during a fight but again it´s a game and  if you care that much about realism whya play a game with mass effect  filds and dark matter and killer robots from outer space?and it´s not like you have to use long hair on femshep, and if Ashley hair bugs you that much don´t take her with you on missions just like and did with Miranda(wich is my favorite character),Smara and  Jack  when it was on a toxic planet or vacuum.

I do too.

Reverse psychology only works if the person you're using it on actually thinks that way.

I wonder how much and which authors.

I found your statement insulting, if it wasn't clear enough.

...You know what, I am just going to drop this. It risks making light of a big issue like this by discussing it in this fashion with you.

So being a Spectre makes you a complete idiot with no sense for military formalities and dress codes whatsoever?

That's nice.

Non-human Spectres have it easy, they don't have to worry about the evils of hair.

Judging by Vasir's high heeled combat "boots", that's the case.

Oh certainly, picking the right colour of nail polish for your talons is serious business.

Hair in Mass Effect is made of unmovable material which will never get in front of femshep's eyes and will never distract her.

A few weeks ago, I was shocked that a friend of mine was at a club with some other girlfriends and left to go to another club with a man she just met. This is a woman who puts on her car alarm to run in and pay for gas, yet she left with a stranger with little effort or thoughts of her safety.

I think that is what The Big Bad Wolf was saying (or I hope he was), that sometimes you can set yourself up for something bad to happen. No one deserves that to happen to them, no one. But in this day and age, you have to be aware of your surroundings and your own safety. You can’t leave with strangers, you can’t leave your drinks unattended, etc.

If you take a young child to a park and leave him unattended under the assumption that because he is innocent and doesn’t deserve anything bad to happen, so therefore it won’t--you’re setting yourself up for a tragedy. Sometimes awful things happen and cannot be prevented, but sometimes they can be. Realizing these things doesn’t mean you have a low moral compass, it means you’re a realist.

I think that is all I will say on this subject.

But to the hair: Ashley will have her own armor (or so they say!) and there is now to be helmet toggle again, so you can just put a helmet on her and go. As for femshep, it’s good to have choices for those who want longer hair styles. If you want her to look more militaristic, then give her a shorter style. Simple.

That's just simple minded thinking. I'm sure it's more serious than that. (Or perhaps it isn't and I'm thinking too much into this, which is derisory).

Hair in the military is only a pain for those outside the Special Operations Command Structure. Any special operations operative is allowed more leeway when it comes to their hair as to add yet another piece of protection to their identity.

At the the point of spec ops, individuals are trusted to do what they need to do, to make sure their combat effectiveness is not reduced. However alot more sguar is added to their service with more freedom relating their attire and personal look.

But that still isn't the same thing as saying it's the woman's fault like Big Bad Wolf did (and hopefully...hopefully... did not mean in that way).  In some situations there can be steps a woman can take to protect herself, and sometimes a woman may fail to do that.  But that does not in any way make what happens her fault or remove any of the blame from her attacker.  "Fault" is a very loaded word to throw around in this context, since it implies the removal of blame from the scum who attacked her.

Oh, I agree with you. The attacker is still responsible and holds the blame. No one deserves anything like that, no matter the circumstances. When I read his statement, I didn’t think he meant the word “fault”, and it seems he didn’t, by his own account. It was a terrible choice of words, and I am sure he agrees with that. It was the impression I got, which is why I said something. Had I thought he meant otherwise, I too would have been disgusted.

Sometimes allowing a person to explain themselves goes a long way into understanding the meaning, and not necessarily the words in front of it.

Concept designs are great and all but we haven't lost until release.

These are more than "concept designs". There's a 20min gameplay demo vid out there (just search for it on Youtube) and you see Ashley. This isn't concept art. The game's basically done.
