Do enemies automatically snap to attention when Infiltrator Shepard drops out of Cloak like in ME2?

It depends on if he's in sight or not, there are vision cones... and enemies remember where they think you were. So if you pop in out of their vision cone, or behind an object of some sort - you have a great flanking opportunity...

As someone whose Infiltrator stealthed her way past the Batarian guards in Arrival, all I can say is:

Nyah nyah, nyah-nyah nyah, Brenon! :P

They can hear you too though! So if you get too close... trouble!

Deus Ex copy-pasted Splinter Cell's stealth system, so it's pretty ridiculous to proclaim DE is something revolutionary. In fact, DE and ME have a lot in common in the sense that they are both games that try to connect and intergrate different genres / gameplay modes into one game.

Why do you keep referring to Deus Ex 3: Human Revolution as "Deus Ex" by itself? Deus Ex is the name of a series and the first game, not the third game.

Thanks, Brenon. That's exactly what I wanted to know.

As much as I'd love to see more a in-depth combat system around the lines of Splinter Cell, Deus Ex or Metal Gear, my realist nature tells me that we'll see more of a Gears of War showing. They may have tiny implications towards stealth play, but I wont get my hopes up. Ultimately however "John/Jane" Shepard =/= Adam Jensen, in much the same manner that Superman =/= Batman or Sylvester Stallone =/=Jackie Chan. All are action heroes, but both do it in a much different manner.

The game has always felt limited in its combat style, however the RPG/story elements have dwindled completely, and in this case, DEHR could easily be compared; In which, DEHR learned from their lethal mistakes in the previous game, ME3 however has yet to be seen....

You make it sound like Gears' combat is shallow.  It isn't.  It's just fast-paced.

As for ME3, I'd expect deeper character builds and more weapon customization than in ME2.  I wouldn't expect to be rifling through crates looking for vendor trash, though.

Ah... ME3 isn't a stealth game.

There are some small elements of "stealth" but generally they're going to be staged
- so when appropriate, enemies might be doing "something" (generally something appropriate to the context and setting) when you arrive... you'd have a small amount of time in order to capitalize on the situation... but that's about the extent of it.

Generally, you won't be seeing any Deus Ex style sneaking around and snapping necks... that's not really what the ME combat experience is about.

What you *will* be seeing is a fair amount of variability in a given fight... the situations tend to be a lot more dynamic... so the same fight almost always plays out differently, which I find to be quite a bit of fun.

So, no silencers? or "Sound Dampening Mass Effect Field Generator at the tip of the barrel?"

I'd settle for getting my weapons mods back and being able to crouch again!

So we're at least halfway there...

I made a thread requesting that... it got locked.

It will probably end up being straight up shooting.

That's what I'm guessing. Seems like he's cliaming it'll be Deus ex, unless I see videos of someone stealthing a mission or being really tactical, I won't believe it.

Thanks Brenon for giving us a real answer, however small the issue. It's a nice change of pace from the Bioware SOP of non-answers. Now how much else are you allowed to divulge..?

On a related note, will our squaddies be able to perform CQC and dodge-rolls? It would be nice if they were a bit more independent...

Right now (as in: in the current build), no... but it's something I think we'd like to add.

I'd really like to see that happen, because it's a sore sight when Garrus gets smacked around by the Cerberus troopers while he's just aiming his gun in their direction at point blank range.

Everything. Everything you are allowed to say at all. In fact, just message it to me, I'm the one who asked after all, why should everyone else get to know things? I want to be able to hold it over them and laugh, oh how I will laugh...

Whoa, excuse me, lost myself for a second. But literally anything you can say that we haven't heard yet would be nice, or even if you know when we get to hear new things, like a new demo, ect. The wait so far has been near unbearable, with Biowares policy of secrecy and all, but waiting is all I get til November brings Skyrim with it, assuming I even have to money for it... <_<

seeing them dodge roll or cover switch would be cool to see that's for sure. in ME2 it was occassionally annoying if they were in my way in the spot of cover I needed and if I did shove them out of the way they just kind of stood there for a bit out of cover.

In the vids I see we use the omniblade, but is there other melee attacks too? Can we hit the melee attack key and Shep punches, kicks, does combos, or something like that?

One more question: Casey hinted that we've only seen the basics of what can be done with the omni blade. Does this mean that one can level up their heavy melee to have different visual and tactical effects?

Yep, there's a basic melee chain for both rifle and pistol (3 hits).

If I had to guess, I think he's probably referring to the different types of attacks that incorporate it. Like the various class moves (some of which use it and some of which do not). Or the over cover grab/sync move, which uses it. (Can't remember the rest off the top of my head... )
