I would love every single death in ME3 to have meaning.

Everytime you kill a cerberus trooper, a small cut scene jumps to their family in mourning, holding a small ceremony with crying children and sad looking dog.

I don't have enough patience to watch 500k cutscenes.

That was a joke.

No no. You misunderstand.

The same cutscene.

500,000 times.

All the cerberus troopers are from the same family and own the same dog? I don't know what TIM is up to, but this seems suspicious. We need to take the dog in for questioning.

I think there was a web comic strip or something that addressed that little problem.

I think it would be just as sad if Shep's parents were to die. They are characters we have not grown emotionally attached to but are so close to Shepard as parents that we could feel saddened by his/her hurt and anguish.

I suppose that's an option for Spacer backgrounds, especially since Shepard's mother is still serving. The other two don't have parents to lose, do they?

I hope not....it would break my immersion on my Earthborn...I have already given him a past of my own choice.

Not only emotional deaths, how about better writing? I feel like making a thread explaining everything that's wrong with Mass Effect, and how it could have been better.

I just checked. It's mentioned in the first lines of ME1 if you choose Earthborn. Udina says, "Well, what about Shepard? Earthborn... but no record of his family." Anderson replies, "Doesn't have one. Raised on the streets. Learned to look out for himself."

I suppose if that's a big problem for your immersion, his family isn't mentioned anywhere else that I recall. Maybe you can claim Anderson was reading from a corrupted file or something. There's a part later on where a guy from your old gang tracks you down that might throw you some more trouble, but you can probably figure out a way around that. However, it does make it seem unlikely that Earthborns will have any scene dealing with their family.

Nup...was taken into account...fits perfect....a family tie springing up would throw me off though.

But a few ren players have reported a Earth shep's sister emails them an apology letter for leaving them to rot on Earth so there could be a sister for ren sheps. I haven't heard of para players getting this same email.

Oh wait, I just realized I completely misunderstood your earlier post. My bad.

Back on topic, I'm with the group that wouldn't mind losing squaddies so long as you had at least some chance to avoid it and you can see how your earlier choices led to this point. I didn't really mind the binary decision in Mass Effect 1, but I don't think it can be done again without feeling cheap.

I would be more than fine with that...it's the forced deaths no matter what, for drama I have an issue with myself.

Pretty sure that guy's trolling you.  There is no sister for earthborn shepards.  The origin of this rumor is a troll thread on the BSN from 4 months ago.

Emotional deaths are all dependent on how the players adapt to the characters, not the other way around.

Look, there's a big issue that has only been mentioned once I think, by Ghost Warrior (love the sig by the way), and that is that if the perfect ending is saving everyone, no sacrifices, as gamers we'll feel like we failed if we don't get that. We don't care that we can lose people if we want for drama, because we want to succede. But if that success is a golden ending, then we'll feel cheated because it didn't feel like a good story. It's a lose lose for us, and that's bull. We want a good game and a good story. There needs to be drama for there to be a story, otherwise I'd be playing Duke Nukem. Does the drama have to come from deaths? No, but it has to come from somewhere. Things like fear, sadness, anger all create drama, not bad***ery, one liners, and shots on the citadel. Sure, those things have their place, but a good story needs more than that.

So without any meaningful deaths, how those of you advocating a "sunshine and bunnies" ending, as it's being called, suggest Bioware incorporate drama? By having me fail? That doesn't make me connect to Shep, that makes me feel like an idiot. That doesn't make me want to play.

Look, I'm not trying to bash you guys and what you want, just try to understand where other people are coming from. Overall, I feel like having a "perfect" ending would hurt the game as a whole. I just don't feel as though a war should be won with no sacrifices, it would cheapen the whole story.

Sorry for the wall, I'm just trying to be as clear as possible and actually promote an intelligent conversation. It's against the SOP I know, but I'm a rebel.
