Yes, that's called chucking a hissy fit.Humanoid_Typhoon wrote...
Actual response:"WTF is this sh-t? I spent 3 games getting to know this guy and they are just going to kill him? F--- that."
Because Saren died his entire story was pointless?Someone With Mass wrote...
It's not the only way to achieve an emotional impact.GodWood wrote...
You would develop a strong bond with the character, then they'd die.
That's how one achieves emotional impact.
In fact, killing characters makes their whole story completely pointless, because the main storyline must move on with or without them.
And I'd rather experience actual mature drama instead of playing a children's fairytale. You better believe that I'd enjoy to see a character achieve something great instead of dying in my character's hands like a sappy drama flick.
See? I can do it too.

If they pull a few Virmires, it would kill replay value, but you're entrenched so I won't continue this discussion with you.

I wouldn't call people dying left and right "mature drama".
Spare me that cliche bull**** and come up with something new and something that's actually worth watching.

He is trying to compare it to a movie where you spend a couple hours getting to know a character, but in ME you spend alot of time getting to know certain characters, and at the end if they die no matter what, you feel like all that time was wasted, would make the game stagnate.Izhalezan wrote...

If Garrus dies In act2 mission 3 no matter what, you know how it happens for sure.
You don't know when and where people you know in life will die.

It's the last act of the trilogy.
Seriously I just can't fathom this mindset you people have.

We could implement a random death generator. At any major video, character has a chance to die to random bullet or something!

By that logic, there's no point in even playing the game if you're doing it for the characters.

It's called the post-game and replay value,if you can't see the game stagnating from watching you fav characters die every single playthrough no matter what, then you're blind.GodWood wrote...

Replay value GodWood....If your fav squaddie is gonna be wiped out in every play through, it devalues and wrecks the game.

Only after the first playthrough.Izhalezan wrote...

Just because I know a plot twist will happen the second time I read a book that doesn't mean it should never be there.

Your book isn't interactive and doesn't use different variables depending on your decisions. It is the same every time, which is why you don't read the same book 10 times over and over, but you can play ME 10 times over and over.GodWood wrote...

I played Jade Empire again and again despite knowing that no matter what Zu will die and I can read Game of Thrones again and again despite knowing Eddard will die.
Of course the deaths wil lose impact after a bunch of playthroughs.Humanoid_Typhoon wrote...

I don't need a poll to tell me the average person prefers sunshine and bunny endings.Humanoid_Typhoon wrote...
Maybe the OP should make a poll,so we can say with the results that GW may be able to appreciate it,but a majority of players will see the forced deaths as cliche and boring.

Typhoon, your flogging a dead horse...if GodWood wants death all around him in his games, he can go find one that gives him that...Luckily BW is not going to pull that stunt on us...so GodWood's argument is a moot point anyway.
