The idea struck me a while back and I wanted to give this build a try for the fun of it. I am well aware of the disadvantage a mage has with this as they have no access to any of the Dual-Wield abilities that Warriors or Rouges have, but I'd still like to give it a try. I would like some opinions of possible stat buids or equipment. I have an idea on what I wanna do, but I'd love to hear your opinions :) Just no bashing please! Thanks :D

Arcane Warrior stat builds are fairly simple, most into magic and willpower, if you plan on dual wielding then no matter what, you'll have to go sword/dagger or dagger/dagger and in both cases, you'll have to sacrifice some attribute points for dexterity, points you won't be able to put into magic/willpower...

One of the many reasons I wanna try getting all DA games on the PC. Sadly I only have it for the PS3 :(

I usually find myself putting a lot of stuff into dex anyway since my character misses all the time :/ Usually 30-35 will do the trick tho. Still, that doesn't leave you much mana for buffs :(

How does Heroic Offense work for Arcane Warriors? I thought this spell only works on strength :o

Heroic Offense
  • Attack Bonus: (100.0 + Spellpower) * 0.1. Duration: 20.0s.
  • Range: 25 m.
  • Conjuration time: 1 s.
Maybe you should read up on what your spells actualy do.
dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Spells_%28Origins%29

In this case, if you didnt know allready. Arcane Warriors have notoriusly low attack scores, which is your 'chance to hit something' attribute and so miss alot with melee attacks.. Your not going to get very far as a duel wielding AW if you can barely hit anything.

So for those who dont know, the problem with this mod is two fold. First purchasing the Duel-Wield talents reduces the number of far superior spells you have access too. Secondly using the DW talents uses your 'mana' which as a Arcane Warrior is generaly extremly low due to running the required sustains to be effective.
It wont work like anything your imagining.

So that brings be to suggest, just cheat and boost your stats to levels where this build setup would work.

Generally speaking an Arcane Warrior is built as a tank, so you'll want to run your sustains on mana then use blood magic to cast your offensive spells to draw threat to you (since your damage kinda sucks, and you don't have access to threaten/taunt, you need the spells to draw threat). Any of the big area of effect primal spells (Inferno, Blizzard, Tempest) are great for making sure the enemies are focused on you.

I want to try this build - my idea would be warrior first with an inate ability to draw on magic - but I think you have to start as a Mage for this path, yes?

So Im wondering if it can still be done ... and I always duel wield - dont know why just like the two :)

So Im thinking dagger/dagger since dex is going to help that, and I need dex for defense rather than strength... yea?

Reaver/Templar/Spirit Warrior
Dosnt seem to work for most people even though its pretty much what most people want to play, Magic Warrior.
Its also practical as well sinc eyou have a advantage being melee.

Is the Reaver/Templar/Spirit Warrior your suggestion to play? It sounds interesting... Ill have to read up on it and give it try.

Its effective, practical and simulates a magic warrior in many ways.

Reaver gives you a heal, a single target stun and a AOE (Spirit) damage aura. (The last talent is to be avoided though)

Templar gives you resitances and spell cleanses and a AOE (Spirit) damage stun/knockdown attack.

Spirit Warrior boosts your defenses significantly by adding about 50% bonus to your spell resistance and dodge rate. It also adds +15% spirit damage and changes all your regular weapon and talent damage to 'Spirit' damage which bypasses armor.  It also ends with a AOE (Spirit) damage attack in the tree.

You can simulate many spell effects, you are a magical warrior and you can choose to go Duel-Wield, Weapon+Shield or Two-Hand style and still be good and effective. You still only need to focus on Strength and possibly Dex depending on your weapon choices.

In my opinion, modding is for cheaters and people that are bored with the game already.  It can be fun, I have done it lots, but not on my serious playthroughs.  When people are asking for information on their builds, offering a mod is both rude and condescending as well as descriminate towards those of us that do not have a PC game to play.  A good 55% of this game (per sales reports found online from Bioware) are played on consoles (PS3 and XBOX).

So, I would politely and kindly ask that any further suggestions for mod use be limited to questions about mods and/or threads in the MODs section of the forum.  Thank you and good day!

Dual wielding Arcane Warrior works exceptionally well, IF you have flaming weapons.
The off hand weapon of choice is Ignacio's dagger, which elevates the AW into indestructible,
while having nearly same damage output as a dual wield warrior on momentum

Thats the second time Ive seen Ignacios dagger referenced today and never knew it was available.  I will definitely have to try and grab it my next play through.
