I was playing around with the add items mod the other day when i found a specialization book. i tried to add it to my inventory but it just made the lvl up sound and the specialization was not added. Then i searched some more and found all the spec books and there were three that did not belong. archmage, bard and i forget the warrior one. has anyone else seen this or was i seeing things?

Hrm, that's interesting. Sounds like you found some cut content.

Yep there are some books. The spirit healer one was the first I found. I don't think they are linked to anything. Someone should try and let Merrill get SH that way.

There's also a spindleweed potion that doesn't do anything.

Those books are legacy remnants, they have no use in DA2. Those are just a few of the left over files that never got removed from origins and DA2 concept builds.

The one that amuses me most is the non-vendor-trash version of the Tome of the Slumbering Elders. It doesn't do anything either, but it gives me hope that the devs at least intended it to be more than a 15 copper piece of junk. If this is one of the treasures of the Dalish, then they're in even worse shape than I thought.

Maybe it's just me, but giving the hero some piece of trash and making the clueless sap think it's some holy treasure makes a lot more sense to me then giving the hero an actual real treasure as reward.
Everyone knows that the hero - regardless of the veracity of the treasure - will treasure said treasure for only so long as the money he got after he has pawned it off at the vender around the corner lasts.

I noticed a lot of "orphaned" items along the lines of those books, the do-nothing potion, etc.

It's kinda sad that they dumped all that...
