There was nothing wrong with the image. It just made her look at the camera instead of being cross-eyed like she is in the original.

any word on whether or not the modified image is going back up. i like the adjustment even tho i really didnt notice the problem until i saw the comparisons

did anyone at bioware proper request the image be taken down? if patryk or bioware have not comment i dont understand what the problem is

if no one here is claiming to be an official bioware rep [imo] their opinion doesnt really matter: i hope the image is reposted assuming bioware / patryk dont mind

I have emailed Patryk asking for his permission and he replied! To directly quote him: "But please by ALL means, critic, overpaint, alter, discuss. It is fine by me ;) You guys help and motivate me (and other artist) to improve and to become better. So please bring back what you removed."

It's back on the first post! :)

Just an update: I have sent Patryk an email seeking his permission to repost the image.

And for clarification, I did not remove the image due to any particular pressure from anyone. I did it out of respect for Patryk and his work. I've even received some really nasty and hate filled messages because of this. Sadly, those nasty messages had no bearing on my decision. (Though I did thank them for taking the time to send me a message. ;) )

WHAT!!!!  that is freaking ... serious people need to really  take a chill pill... like damn.   Well   Idoits are going to be Idoits... lets see what he says  -  I hope he says  Yes.

I've learned years ago that no matter what you do SOMEONE will always hate it so I gave up trying to please everyone. My typical responce to the haters is usually in the form of "Thank you for your reply and taking the time out of your busy life to reply to my topic." :P

I hope that soon there are versions of the wallpaper without the date, BioWare/EA Tag, and the title in it. Just a personal preference in my wallpapers.

Changes are great by the way.

Shame about all the hate directed at you OP.

Particularly when, as gamers, many of us in here have been modding game developers ' art ' for years to make it better and more to our personal liking...

Great to hear Quaigee. It's no surprise to me that Patryk said it was fine to do, I can't imagine a professional artist getting bent out of shape because he has fans who care enough about their work to devote one's own time in fiddling with it for fun and community.

Oh and thanks for the 1080p version ^_^

The eyes (in regards to the irises) were never the problem.

The nose and lips were the biggest issues, in my opinion, because they were evidently unfinished. The nose seemed like half of it had been drawn, and the lips on the upper side were likewise smudged. And they were edited quite nicely.

In a way it was somewhat presumptuous of the OP to do this prior to obtaining permission from the original artist, but as Patryk has since extended his blessing I feel that I have little standing on which to criticize that now. Good job, Quaigee, both on the touch ups and on navigating the excessive vitriol with uncommon grace. Cheers.

Since I now have Patryk's blessing, I may alter the hair to be blonde just to see what that would have looked like. I'll probably work on that tonight (after I finish my day job and theis work) and post some results later.

To me, (in the framing BioWare used for this image) the irises were "off". It has more punch when she's looking directly at you. But there's no right or wrong answer here. It's all about personal taste.

Was it presumptuous of me? Ummmm... yeah.  I sometimes get excited about something and leap straight into it. I'm just happy Patryk has given his blessings. I'll fully admit when I make a faux pas and I take the criticism (as long as it's constructive) to heart.

Zoom in on the image. The iris on the right eye has been modified, the upper left lip has been evened out and the nose has been moved up and the right nostril has been tweaked.

I made slight alterations to her lip and nose as well. I also never said there was anything "wrong" with it. ;)

It's actually quite disturbing that some people can't instantly notice a difference.

It's back on the first post! :)

I thought he would say that. :) Spoken like a true artist. Good to know you've received his blessing and have the revised version back up! I think I might have a go at a little edit myself later on.

Am I the only one who thinks the femshep in the picture looks like she just gave two pints at a blood drive?

Seriously, that pale must be unhealthy.

It looks like she just survived a reaper attack. She may *have* lost a few pints of blood. :P

Did an edit of my own, a bit inspired by quaigee's efforts. I hope you don't mind me hosting it here. :)

Made her right eye wider to match her left's, made the lighting on the nose a tad narrower, and lifted a side of her lip up a little. Here's the 1080p for anyone interested.

Ok, I did a little work and I made a "BlondeShep". I'm definitely going to work with the colors some more but here's a version of BlondeShep. I lightened her face a bit and did a little work to make her blonde. I'll have to go over it again and work with the layers to finalize it. For now I'm happy! (Most of my work going forward is to remove some of the bright red from her face and integrate the blonde strands better into her skin.)

What exactly were you expecting when you entered a thread titled "Slightly revised version of Patryk Oejniczak's FemShep"?

Oh you know... space is a minor detail. :D

Nice change on making her blonde, Quaigee (though I'm biased heh)... the change was done well ^_^

I tried myself a few days ago but my photoshop-fu skills are weak. :pinched:

Don't give up. Basically it's a lot of work with layers, changing the hue and saturation of some layers and erasing away bits and pieces. The best way to learn is to simply play with it.
