I have spoken in other threads of how fond I am of Grunt. And how he is "my nephew" or like a younger brother to me.In spite of this though - I cannot fool myself into believing that he will never turn against me.For Grunt is not Wrex.Of all the krogan that Shep has interacted with.Of all the krogan that Shep knows.I have no doubt given how happy Wrex was to see Shepard alive and knowing what I know of his unique sense of honor and integrity amongst his people. How he did not do as his father did. When they met at the 'sacred' no weapons allowed site of the krogan.

That Wrex would never intentionally go to war against Shep and Co. Unless Shep gave him a good reason too.But the only reason that Grunt needs is to simply "Test his strength against a strong opponent. That's how krogan measure their worth in a way.By the strength of their enemies.Certain things that Grunt says when talking to Shepard.Lead me to the conclusion that a Clash of Titans down the road is unavoidable betwixt these two.Grunt will seek to make the krogan great once more.He could honor and respect Shepard enough to hold off his campaign of conquest of the stars, until Shepard comes to the end of his life.Krogan live far longer than humans after all.

But I'm thinking that age old curiosity to see If the "student has surpassed his teacher ( or Battle-master in this case) will be to great a temptation for Grunt to pass up.(Let us remember that this is the krogan who took down a Thresher Maw on foot, but that victory was not his alone)

No... Grunt will want to pit his forces against Shepard why he remains in his prime:

Grunt will seek to prove that he is the greatest warrior of all sentient species. After all: That is why he was made. Its nothing personal. He has no animosity or quarrel with Shepard though...

And as much as I hate the idea of hurting Grunt.Destroying his armies and having to kill him on the battlefield.Part of me really looks forward to a Post Mass Effect 3 Grunt Vs. Commander Shepard DLC. :wizard:Going head to head against him! As Jay-Z put it "Show Me What You Got?!"

And that's why I convinced Mordin to destroy the Genophage data and say "The Genophage was the right thing to do" every single opportunity.

The Krogan, as a species are too violent to be let loose.

..nor do I feel comfortable just exterminating them as they may change (Like the changes Wrex is making).

But until (if) Wrex gets the entire Krogan race to unite under his ways and fundmentally changes Krogan society; genophage stays in place.

Sorry Grunt, you and your bros are too violent and dangerous.

As much as I love Grunt I can't trust him forever. What if I get old and need to retire. He would rather kill me than let me retire!

On the plus side, the thing with grunt is that you CAN trust him. Moreso if he wants to eventually defeat you.

Grunt has demonstrated no strategic thinking and only the most basic of tactical thinking. He is Grunt. He won't be raising an army against you. BUT..

There will come a day, in the middle of lunch, after the reapers have been defeated and your mind is undistracted, that it will happen. Grunt will walk right up to you, knock over the table, hand you a rifle and demand a duel; you at your very best against Grunt at his very best.

As for campaign of conquest of the stars, Grunt isn't the type that could do that. He was engineered for and embraces his place as a front line soldier. He's a good soldier but he's not officer material at least in the forseeable thousand years or so. He has demonstrated neither strategic nor tactical thinking despite having all that knowledge imprinted into him. Any army being commanded by Grunt wouldn't fare very well.

@GordonNoob2010 - I'm not so sure about what you say about Grunt. If you recall what Okeer's Super Krogan says on Tuchanka, after his Loyalty Mission:

Grunt:

- This is the great krogan homeworld?

- This is the land of Kreidock, Shiager and Veoil?

- This chunk of rock is barely worth standing on!

Urdnot will make it better. My line will fix it..."

That doesn't sound like "meat-head" to me.

That's the talk and spirit of a man (krogan) who has set himself like flint and found his calling.

And if you read the Dossier File on Grunt in the Lair of the Shadow Broker. You will see that Grunt is most studious when it comes to warfare...

I also love Grunt to bits but I would be willing to face him down on the field of battle. When number 3 is launched curing the genophage is the first thing on my shepards agenda. Unleash the Krogan Wrex will teach Grunt the other paths to greatness you know the ones that don't involve trying to kill Shepard.

For what its worth I beleive Grunt could become a great leader but not if Wrex is alive, if Wrev is in control of Urdont I can see Grunt taking control and crushing the other clans to secure Urdont glory.

Still the Reapers are still the greatest threat Grunt won't fight Shepard while they are around. And if you do cure the Genophage I can't see why with the data you couldnt make another more....lethal strand and remove the Krogan altogether...if they prove untamable.
