@ryoldschool : yeah, Legion went well, except one spot where i had some trouble dealing with 3 invisible geth at once , just bad strategy from my part. Got it on 2nd try. But i took Tali and with Legion, i thought i'd have it good with 2 drones and 2 hackings, but it was just ok, not ideal . Forgot how important staggering powers are for vanguards . Kasumi would have been best , or heavy concussive ...
@Yezdigerd : tell me about it . I did take some cover but for like one second before next charge.
That's another issue i had, "where" to charge .
@Bourne : nightmare? i wish. at least i'd wake up from it. lol. But yes, i do go for cover, running behind the bannisters , or pillars, whichever . Bu i tried running around as much as i could.
And as you say, no flashbang grenades :( , or mordin's incinerate .

i feel i'm going to be listening to much more Kenson cut scene tonight !

about whittling down enemies:

that would be ideal for an adept, or sentinel if you play defensively .
but it's a shame for the vanguard .
and i also don't know which pillar that is.
Normally the strongest hiding spot is the L shape console at the left of the entrance door. That' s where i parked my adept last time and pulled all my biotic bells and whistles.

.. to think some guys actually find this easy . :

Vanguard no cover is probably quite hard...

The easy way to do it on insanity is turteling behind the pillar left of the door that is opposite of the entrance door. Then all enemies including the YMIR will approach from the window side and use a lot of cover. Since you have standing cover you can just whittle everything down. not very vanguardy though.:D

Do you have a video to show where you are talking about, I'm not sure who's left you are talking about?

x---------------Far Door --------------x

1                                                   2

                 Artifact

x-------------Door you enter----------x

Are you talking about 1 or 2?

Sorry afraid I'm not a frapsing person, that would be pillar 1. The pillar also shields you from the pyros. Those jumping down clumps up in cover by the artifact on the window side(2), and they seem very reluctant to close with me for some reason.
Thats how I do it when I get tired of failing, anyway.

@Yez, thanks for clearing that up. I'm going to do that part again soon and I'll give it a look.

pyros are my problem.
... i hate pyros.
i'm getting better at it, i start with the first on on the left, then straight opposite and after i have to adapt .
i need to watch out for a pyro's entrance but it's not like i can just sit there waiting for them .

anyway, i went on with the mission, will finish it and come back to this rho **** right after .

When I recorded Miranda's LM with claymore, I did not pick up any cash, so I replayed it for that reason.  I happened to record the enyala fight again because I decided to use thisisme8's strategy where you charge with the avalanche, shoot the floor and it freezes everyone around ( except you ).  So I charged a bunch of Enyala's buddies and froze them.   Enyala is still tough to take down.  I was shooting her point blank and she still managed to move away from me.

haha, that's a lot of freezing . Usually there's a few engineers in there, but i didn't see any .
Is it some respawning point trick ?

I know what you mean. There are usually a lot of guys in there, including several engineers. There is one engineer next to the guy I charged ( he is the last frozen guy that explodes ). Right at 0:57 of the video he has just thrown an incinerate at Mordin.@ 1:02 he is the guy to my left who I don't charge.

As far as the respawning, maybe if you make it close to that door they don't respawn. The only reason I was able to get there was because of the freeze-everyone technique. Makes for a fast fight.

cryo redefines breaking the ice on a first meeting .
i never retreated to that little back room , nice little cosy place to catch your breath , i'm bookmarking it.
so you did that at a later stage of the game . i always do it early to increase my levels before Horizon. So, no squad cryo, no inferno ... but it's one of my favorites : rpg wise, sound track, environment.

---

finished Arrival. After Rho, the mission is pretty good, but there seems to be a bug when you walk outside at the end. I couln't charge the first guy  and died like 3 times trying to do just that. I got it in the end, but seems there's like a certain angle you have to be in.
I was going to redo the mission, but think i'll just start a NG+ and gain more experience .

Thanks for comments on Zaeed Mission.  I saw ScroguBiltzen do that in a video once - you notice that I kept checking behind me in that side room because guys spawn from there sometimes.  I tried not to dock into cover anytime during that fight.

I did an NG+ after my first vanguard claymore run - just to get more practice with Claymore reload trick.  Enjoy Image IPB

Dunno if this has or hasn't been posted yet, but http://social.biowar...1/index/1457282 is probably the best guide on this forum for building the quintessential me2 vanguard.

@LoB, yes it was posted, the fourth post in the thread ;) He ended up going Claymore. That is a great Guide. The other great guide is Sinosleep's low level vanguard.

This is Jacob's LM.  I took Tali along hoping I could hack the Mech at the end and take care of everyone.  It didn't turn out that way.  I had trouble hacking the mechs, but its cool when it works.

@LoB : yes, i have watched those vids a few times and picked up a few tricks and tips . great stuff.

@ry : i've used AI hack on the geth in both tali's and legion's loyalty, but i tend to use the drones more often. lokis are slow but do they ever strip your shields fast.

--

finally, i redid Arrival . Still haven't managed to do the whole Rho section, but i got 75% of the way, big improvement for me. But there are so many charge bugs in that mission . I charged one in a room ( mid way through mission ) and ended up at the bottom of the stair in the middle of the room... and died.

at the very end, outside, i managed to take everyone down by spamming charge , except at the very last the heavy mech got me as i was trying to do as TLayug : charge, cover, charge cover... missed one cover.. dead. haha.

Its the busted building, water everywhere, and mercs that really come after you. If you are real aggressive its a non-stop fight. When I have played it slow and safe it takes a very long time. Honestly if I have not played in a while I will load up a save just before the Baria Frontiers upstairs and play it to remind myself how careful you need to be to avoid getting planted by those clowns.

Object Rho, yeah sarcasm...

LotSB Hotel Azure and Tela Vasir Fight

One of the hard parts of the Azure parking lot fight is finding out where the next car will land.  Most people bring someone with area overlord ( Garrus or Miranda at level 4 ) to use with Liara's singularity on the cars, but Miranda's at level 3 worked fine.

great handling of the platforms, i didn't have any overload on my first run as vanguard. So it was one by one.
have you ever tried bozorg's trick of overloading  , and pull field even before they land down ?
then there's only the engineer to charge.

did Mordin's recruit on NG+ last night . Jacob and I on inferno , miranda on cryo ammo.
i did burn from a pyro once and at some other point died from a stupid charge. But besides that it went well, so i'm improving. The claymore reload is not an issue anymore.

crippling slam was definitely a good choice too .

but i'm looking forward to some damage protection.

now i wonder which mission next: garrus, jack, zaeed or kasumi .

so far i don't see any difference between ng+ and regular play on insanity ...

I recommend Jack's recruitment. It is probably the hardest of the three, but it has a shotgun damage upgrade and a damage protection upgrade. If you bought the shotgun damage upgrade from Kenn's shop on Omega, that will unlock the Shotgun Shield Bypass upgrade.

@xassantex Azure - never tried using pull field ( I always go squad cryo ammo on my vanguard ).  However if you try it without somebody with overload its a real pain.

NG+ and Nornal game = same?  Good for you.  I liked having the Claymore right out of the gate, but it also made Jacob less important ( did not need him for squad incendary ammo ).

Also as far as your next mission - its kinda funny, but you don't get Kasumi's Locust with NG+, you have to do her loyality mission again to get it, and I like that gun on a vanguard, so that is what I did.  However, its hard to argue with getting Jack and the damage protection and SG upgrade.

i didn't see any difference when recruiting mordin on NG + , but i just finished jack's recruit...
ha... that was another story . I had a really tough time in that last part , killing the warden . Finally i watched nexolek's method ( on YT) and tried to emulate that. It worked . I had no choice but being much more aggressive with charge.
In the end, to bring down the warden, i was so fed up i used HW ( arc projector ) to speed it up .

going to do kasumi next for her flashbang and the locust as you said.

I usually start games fresh because I like the idea of building the character and I often don't wanna use the same weapon I chose the first time. NG+ locks your weapon choice which, depending on what I want from a given run, can be a good thing or can be annoying.

That said, when I did try NG+ it didn't really feel that much harder. There -are- some differences such as needing to shoot stuff more, using Overload 2/3 times rather than once to strip shields etc. Considering that your shields last very little even on level 1 insanity without upgrades, you still need to be careful either way at the beginning.

Like others said (and I tend to agree with Ryoldschool on many things) Kasumi is probably good if you like the Locust. The mission can be a bit of a pain to do right off the bat though. It would be quite helpful when you do Garrus' mission however, considering the first part tends to be done by shooting from distance.

I tend to use Kasumi's Flashbang for damage mitigation when I charge. Generally early game I might use Overload (AOE Overload) to strip shields so that the Flashbang will throw people on the floor. When I charge I'll be hit by a lot less people, as they are still trying to stand up. If I am not playing NG+ and I don't have access to early AOE Overload or AOE Warp (for Vorcha/Krogan armour), I'll try to play more carefully and fall on my SMG more so the Locust comes in handy. But I will still Flashbang because it staggers them. Also remember rank 3 Flashbang overloads enemies' weapons.
