yeah, flashbang has been my saviour many times. And i definitely want it for Horizon. ( i also like concussive blast as a staggering tool )
and the locust allows shooting at distance , i always pick it up . ( but sometimes i prefer the tempest ) .

i agree about the NG+ . But i wanted to keep the claymore to become really good with it.
possibly on my next game i'll use a sniper or the mattock.

what upgrades have you got so far ?
i like your playing style ... you charge a fair deal, but not exclusively so .
why cryo on the locust and not inferno ?

Thanks. I have 4 SG upgrades. I always have problems with Loki mechs so I prefer cryo to stop them from shooting. I'm about to record "defend the hatch" and hope to charge everyone there ( well, except the rocket drones ;) ).

charge everyone ? that's a lot .
what bonus power are you using?

--
i finished KAsumi .. had a hard time in the last part ... i'm making a habit of this. I had to use the arc projector on the 3rd wave because i was really close to where they spawned . I'd say i charged about 50% of enemies, and whittled the others down with guns and crippling slam . With so little protection, i'm not good enough to charge more.

i also had to reload that last part because kasumi couldn't do her thing to take out the shields.
Said i had to take down the guards, but there was no one left , i went everywhere ... nobody .
i did throw one over the cliff and i suspect he never registered as dead . So had to restart.
didn't matter, it was just one more resume...

Yeah, I hate when that happens.  It does not happen very often, but if you play a lot its bound to happen.  Anyway, I could not charge everyone  on the defend the hatch like I wanted, but this is what I could do.

Shadow broker defend the hatch + inside

I use stasis, but only on the rocket drones.

i don't think anyone charges everyone, at least not in the vids i've watched.
still very good,
so you have both liara's stasis and your own ? i had thefeeling you were using only one stasis power on the drones .. you just didn't want to bring up the wheel to use liara's ??

i'm looking forward to the day i can do an entire mission without dying once as vanguard.
now i have to take care of garrus, zaeed and finally grunt , then horizon.

Only used my stasis. I Hate using the power wheel, only use it to change weapons. On xbox you can only map one power per teammate, so I did not feel like remapping in the middle of the video. I'm not going to video the SB fight - it is always long and drawn out.

theoretically that should suck. But i find with each squadmate i tend to use only one of their powers , with a few exceptions like miranda where i use both her warp and overload.
i map my powers on my "Caps lock"key ( slam) and on my mouse side button ( charge) , then i use "r" and mouse top button for squad mate powers, and frankly that's about it. I rarely use the other keys .
Like no, miranda's overload is on "r" and zaeed's concussive blast is on top button . And that's really what i'm playing with, ocasionally i use her warp mapped to "3" key.
if i change weapon, or use medi gel, i pause .

Stasis is terrific fun for a Vanguard on the LotSB mission. I used only Liara's, and when combined with Charge, it allows extended control of a single target. Poor Vasir didn't have a chance.

No kidding! I love the LotSB mission overall, but the SB fight is my least favorite part. It's a slog for a Vanguard, who can't Charge, and on Insanity, the SB hits hard enough that every dash to cover becomes risky. I found myself running in a loop around the staircase to wear him down. Not my proudest moment.

The Vanguard can charge the Shadow Broker just fine:

i'm also pretty sure i've seen another SB vid with a charging vanguard, just can't remember who,when... , but you need to have good upgrades .

great vid though , he goes at it like it's just a walk in the park .

-----

so it was at the begining that i didn't see much difference with regular play and ng+ .That changed . Zaeed's last room was very tough for me because if i charged too much at some point i got stuck on cooldown with fire coming from all directions ... so i wisened up and charged some but played much more defensively . Garrus' recruit went way better than i expected , thanks to mordin's incinerate and slam when defending the 10 seconds gate closing.
/sidenote :
the YMIR attacked me at some point but being down to health i slammed it , it got shot by however and exploded.
there were only a couple engineers and soldiers left.

i only have grunt's recruit left before Horizon, so upgrade wise i'm like level 9 i guess. ( i normally hit Horizon on level 11) .

What? All I do is charge and move in circles while shooting him with the Claymore, and charging again when he takes out my shields. This ends the fight in less then 2 minutes, no need to take cover or run to the staircase.

I actually did video this fight just now.  The thing is that you basically have to beat him three times.  If you have the claymore and are a vanguard then its an easier fight .  In my video I counted 28 claymore shots from start to finish ( about 3 minutes because of the cutscene ).  Also I almost ran out of ammo ( just like the guy in the video you posted ) even though it spawns just right of your starting position, and had to run and pick up some in the third part ( in the Video linked earlier by RedCaesar97 that guy ran out of ammo on the Scimitar and used the pistol and finally the tempest ).  In his Claymore Soldier video RedCaesar97 used about 16 shots ( some under Arush ).  Another thing you need to do if you are using shotguns is to try to circle counter-clockwise because if you circle clockwise its easier to get hit by his revenant.

The video is uploading now, I'll provide a link in a few hours.

Shadow Broker Fight

Edit: Added video.

yeah the SB fight is easy as vanguard once you realize you can stay in his face. The scimitar works just fine, and with the AR you wont have to scurry around after clips either, Its a good idea to circle him close to a pillar for cover if he manage to hurt you,

i was having some trouble in the Jedore fight ( grun't recruit) on ng+ . I watched Kronner's vid and there was the solution ! ( this guy is amazing ) Hit Jedore right away ... i still had two more krogans to deal than he did though - i'm slower :\\
I also changed crippling slam to heavy slam now. Crippling makes the enemy fall behind cover too often and you're stuck there waiting forever.

Yeah, Kronner is amazing.  But I can't find that video you are talking about ( looked on his youtube account ).  Can you link it please?  Thx

That's great to know! Since my Charge power is greyed-out and since the information box for charge says 'Target is Immune,' I assumed the SB was, well... immune. Hmmm.

I just replayed that fight and found all the above to be true: the power displays as unavailable to me, but I can Charge all the same.

You just made that fight a whole lot more fun. Thanks.

yes that's the one . the whole vid is great . I could not emulate everything of course !
also i had area overload on my squad and not heavy , making a noticeable difference in stripping shields off.

i just finished Horizon . .. laborious .

so, my first vid ever here.
jacob's loyalty mission .

watching it , i see all the stupid moves that i did, and all the good moves i "should" have done but didn't , i'll learn eventually.

had to reload two sections
1) a loki went off the map without dying and i couldn't explode the crates to go on ( after the female camp ) .
2) i died in the ast part , got surprised ... and killed by the mech.

sorry about poor transitions, video diting isn't my forte.

A few days back i was looking for some ideas for another ME2 replay, and i decided the Vanguard after reading/watching some impressive gameplay by good players like sabre, kronner and others that i dont remember now.
Obviously im still learning but im trying, and the most important thing is that this class is crazy fun. I played only soldier and infiltrator before btw.

Some vids

Horizon

Jack LM

Mordin LM

My current build:

Inferno ammo 4
Squad cryo ammo 4
Heavy charge 4
Shockwave 1
Champion 4
Dominate/Barrier/Reave/Slam 3 (im not lvl 30 yet)

Thank you all the Vanguards here for the tips and videos.

you're a better vanguard than i am jahaa . Great job on Horizon.
and i agree, vanguard is a great class.
you haven't played the adept yet ? it's a lot of fun too. I still have to try the infiltrator and the engineer, but not till i'm a decent vanguard.

Better than you? nah dude... why?
I'm glad you like it. And all i do there is learned from here and from getting killed when you are stagged. Hell i hate that.

No, i haven't played as adept, but i'm thinking about to give a try to Sentinel next time.
That armor looks very inspiring for another way to play.

My two cents on playing as a vanguard is that charging is fun. Rushing the guy at the back of a group, shooting him in the face, and then punching him off the edge of the map is fun. It's also fairly difficult to master and only possible with a vanguard. So, unless you're only doing one playthrough and it's on a vanguard, do it up in vanguard fashion. Grab a claymore or an eviserator, charge into flanking position, wear the letter off your melee button, and have fun.
