Bioware needs to learn to ignore sensionalistic news orgs like Fox News.

In fact it may be economicaly wise for them to give news companies like Fox News a reason to make some moral rage. It's free media spotlight on BioWares product.

I love how people are complaining about the Americans when I've seen it said ON THIS SITE that games get banned in Australia for having this stuff in excess.

The ratings board in Australia are really hit or miss at times. They made the developer remove persistent bodies and zombie cops from L4D2, but were fine with AvP having human skulls being ripped out spine and all. THis was over a year ago by the way, and since then I think they've loosened up a bit. Duke Nukem Forever was released completely unedited here, Witcher 2 had a minor scene involving sex as a reward removed (easily modded back) but retained all it's full nudity sex scenes.

Australia's media stays out of the whole video game debate, we have no FOX news and hardly many big 'parents against violent video gaming' groups. Its just a bunch of silly government people.

I don't think anyone here takes FOX news seriously. Here in America, I mean. Or at least anyone who would be playing ME.

Or not. Jeez, some people are blood-thirsty nihilists on BSN. This is Star Wars-like space opera, not Friday the 13th.

Uh, did you not see Star Wars #3 Revenge of the Sith?

That wasn't gruesome. ME2, where thousands of colonists are torn apart and used to construct a new Reaper and you actually get to watch one get torn apart is more gruesome.

Violence is good as it is - although being able to literally shoot holes in people, given the nature of the guns we're using, would be a nice addition.

For as far as nudity and sex is concerned - do it right, or don't do it at all.
I've been connected to the web via broadband since I was fifteen (approaching thirty now); there's nothing BioWare can think of that I haven't already seen. That's not to say that I want to see Shepard toss someone's salad, but nudity and sex a la The Witcher II shouldn't be too much to ask for. American faux prudishness be damned.

Don't be stupid, even bad PR is PR, and bad news coming from a news channel that is famous for its up-tightness and conservativeness will definitely boost sales.

I think "The Witcher 2" is a perfect example of how mature games should be done. Come on, mature games are for grown ups. So don't make it like it's still for 12yo children (even if they buy it, it's their fault)
Anyways, whats up with Fox News? When ME1 shown "nudity" they were about to start a crusade against Bioware, but now Witcher 2 is more graphic then ME ever will be, and they are silent as the grave. Also, yay for european developers, who got the balls to make a game like they want it to be.

Some violence is good (i.e. misting from headshots, some blood spurts, blood decals on walls, etc), but serious gore should be kept to rare moments (like the Russian guy in ME1, the Collector pods in ME2, etc).

As for nudity, ME1 did it right imo.

Honestly I always wandered why the game was mature... I mean, most 8 year olds curse, so language isn't mature to anyone. Shooting but no blood never made sense to me and made me think it was a rated E game. The only thing that made me think it was mature themed is that you can romance characters, but anyone in middle school can romance a person and only in ME1, did they allow side boob to show and made the cut scene look mature without becoming porn. ME3, I want to see blood and more importantly, nudity. No more dry humping... If they have to, they can go the Japanese route and introduce the Half-Blur to the genitals but let the T and A slide. (Male or female) Heck they can show everything on the body if they dont show actual penetration cause penetration on screen would push it to an adult rating.

If they add gore, Im cool with it. Just make it look cool.

When Fox makes a report on detailed ME3 xenophilia the ME3 target audience will already know about ME3 and what makes it good and has probably already bought it. However millions that haven't even heard about the game will now also know about it. Most won't care, some will dislike but will probably not do anything about it, and some will like it and perhaps even buy it.

The Witcher 2 (had) the luxury of being a PC game with limited mainstream exposure. Mass Effect has always been a AAA title that can't avoid the sort of scutiny TW2 managed to skirt. It's unfortunate that it works this way but it's a fact EA and Bioware can't avoid.

I would love if the game contained the following:
- Language; Like ME 2, "normal" use of language as fits the characters (jack curse a lot, Miranda when she's angry etc), ie they curse when under presurre for instance.
- Sex; first and foremost it should fit with the game! I have NO problem with full frontal as in the Witcher 2, but that is not what Mass Effect is. It should not be fully clothed dry humping as ME 2, but more teasing and tastefull as ME 1. For instance, see them undress, caress, kiss etc, but not the action. Stuff like butts and sideboobs/front fromt belly and up should definetly be there!

I think The Witcher 2 is (and was) an AAA title. They didn't spend as much money into marketing, but it was hyped up just as much... Maybe because TW2 is from the other side of the Atlantic. The USA is a weird country...

We already saw a young boy get blown to smitherenes in the demo, even though he was in a shuttle. And since there will be scenes with indoctrinated people & husks.... yea I would imagine there will be unpleasant scenes of people being dragged away while in a state of horror. Plus the insides of a Reaper being partially organic... It could look like something out of Dead Space here and there, with some sort of goo covering the corridor walls and trickling down.

As long as it adds to the story, atmosphere or character attributes it doesn't really matter to me how gruesome or gory or erotic it is presented. What I find annoying is gore, sex, violence in a game just for the sake of the game having a shock effect or 'cool attitude'.

zombies in ME3. Gruesome headshots plz. serious graphic nudity and adult themes. This is the end of the universe - its hardly likely to be all fluffy bunnies is it?

Just not as scary as the missus plz......
