Rivain sounds like an interesting place and I'm hoping to see it at some point in the franchise but renctly something has occured to me. Dragon Age wiki's article on Rivain mentions a number of things including that the people are generally on friendlier terms with the Dalish elves. They also say that Llomerryn has "semi-permanent dalish settlements on it's outskirts." As far as  I can tell however, they don't source this information. Now I can believe the Rivaini might seem more favorable to the Dalish clans if since the Witches of Rivain seem like they'd be less hostile to the dalish elves than the Chantry ruled nations but Llomerryn is an island (populated largely by pirates), which isolates it somehwat it from the rest of Thedas, making it harder to reach. Moreover, though when Merrill and Isabella talk about Rivain they seem to give a very different story. Merrill says she's never heard of a dalish that went there, and Isabella who is actually from (or has been to) Llomerryn says that "I don't think Llomerryn is ready for the Dalish."

Dragon Age Wiki has had that entry since before DA 2 came out but it sounds to me that either their information is either false or has since been retconned or something. With that in mind, is there any other evidence elsewhere in the lore that implies that the Dalish Elves and the Riviani are on good terms?

The DAII collector's edition guide says that they are cordial with elves and that their way of marking social standing may have been adopted from the elves themselves.

Llomeryn is only one Island, Rivain is a decent sized penninsula. On the Rivani mainland, it seems that the Dalish and humans do seem to tolerate one another. Thr Rivani seem generally tolerant of most people in Thedas: elves, qunari, mages, ect. But no, I do not think it was retconned. Merril isn't exactly the most knowledgeable source on general Dalish movements and Dalish outside of Ferelden's various clans. And Isabella was talking about Llomeryn, which is a neutral, somewhat interesting city on an Island, given its isolation by water, its unlikely many Dalish would have much reason or desire to go there.

That conversation with Isabela is pretty disturbing. Refuse a "tumble" with a fortune teller and be run out of town?

Sounds like the place isn't ready for a lot of people, really. I don't think they have anything in particular against the Dalish.

when I think of Llomeryn I think of Tortuga.. Especially the way its potrayed in pirates of the carribean with drunks everywhere and constant brawls.. Great place to invite the qunari to sign a treaty lol, They thought Kirkwall was to corrupt imagine when they saw that place.. Although its probably not as bad as a picture it

The madness! It is unthinkable! The Ben-Hassrath might have been tempted to go on an execution spree.

And then end up getting ravished by mobs of angry, lustful Rivani. Carrying red hot pokers in case the qunari start "nuzzling".

No wonder the qunari leave Rivain alone.....

Some of the information listed on the unofficial Dragon Age wiki comes from David Gaider, who posted information at the old Bioware messageboard (I'm not certain why the Rivain page doesn't cite the link since his post is still avaliable for view).
