"They" didn't. 50% less votes were cast in the second poll, which indicates that 50% less people were aware of it.
It's logical to conclude that those most likely to have followed this farce are the ones that were unhappy with the original result. Most of us that preferred the blonde didn't, and as such were unaware of the second poll.
This is reflected in the voting. If you were capable of looking at the numbers critically you would know this.

Never did understand why some people get outraged over such unimportant matters.

No it doesn't, the first vote was multiple choice and many people voted once for style and once for colour. I can see the tags on my firends' profiles and at least six of them voted for more than one shepard in round one, myself included. Statistics can be massaged to say anything but I'll put to you the same thing I've put to others who've made this point.
Do you seriously think over 26,000 people who voted for #5 the first time round, suddenly decided to stop reading their facebook updates?

I don't begrudge anyone being happy with the result, but it's not a fair one, and is not truly representative of the wishes of the Mass Effect fanbase.
I’m just going to put these here. This was from about two months ago. From Twitter--before the Facebook vote. Before any fake conspiracy against blondes.
David SIlverman wrote ..... Lots of love for #FemShep. Now the real question, is she blonde, brunette, red head??? #ME3
David Silverman wrote ..... hearing a lot of #Redhead comments for #FemShep default. Blonde and Brunette fans need to step it up! #ME3
So it seems this outcome is a accurate assessment of what a lot of ME fans wanted. But thanks for speaking for them. I know it’s hard to find time with all your civil rights duties.David Silverman wrote .... Ok, so #FemShep is looking to be a #Redhead due to tweets I've received. Now onto eyes - blue, brown, green, other??? #ME3

Yes, that is what i think. I certainly managed to miss any news of the second poll on facebook.
Those of us that were totally happy with the blonde femshep 5 had no need to keep up with the story after it reached its conclusion.
It is a fact that far fewer votes were cast in the second round, and it is a fact that those most likely to be aware of it, and thus able to cast a vote, were those not happy with the original result.

Sort of how people argued that people were voting for blonde Shepard because of the haircut and not the color. Same instance, people here were voting for the color, but they change a part of the face.
I really don't see why they would do it, they knew the redhead was going to win. It was obvious to everyone, why did they change the face?
Which is, you know, what we voted for the first round.
The freckles annoy me because they weren't what we voted for and were just imposed. I don't care any other way. There are redheads without freckles no?

That was inappropriate, but on topic, redheads with freckels are so cute. I think any girl with freckels gives them that innocent look, but with that naughty mysterious side. Femshep a redhead, is a plus.

The results of the first poll have been totally discarded to appease the barbaric misogyny of the anti-blondes.

By your logic, maybe the people who voted for redshep on Twitter didn’t show up to vote for her in the first FB vote. Maybe they thought she had been chosen with Twitter and there was no need to vote again. What if Twitter received 75,000 votes and she won hands down with that? Does anyone have those numbers? I’d be curious to see how many said redshep.
Perhaps some of those same people heard that a blond won and was like, “wtf? I thought redshep won! I voted for her on Twitter!” So when the second vote came about, they came in to vote. Maybe that’s why Bioware changed their minds in the first place. Maybe they got a lot of feedback wanting to know why the original redshep that was voted for wasn’t the official winner. Maybe those who demanded a re-vote and didn’t want her blond was because it wasn’t there original vote? I don’t know. You don’t know. Only Bioware knows why there was a second vote. What I have said and what you have said are assumptions only. But by what David Silverman said on Twitter, and by your very own logic--it seems redshep was the one who got the shaft to begin with.

That is a very good point, Amyra.

Misogyny? I'm not seeing it. Look I am a girl who is naturally blonde, surely I should be more offended by this than you seem to be, but I am not. Wanna know why? Because the second round of voting was not discriminating against blondes! A lot of people said in the comments on facebook and on BSN that they wanted the hairstyle but with a different colour. A few people spouted some offensive remarks but they had nothing to do with the second round of voting.

He's referring to the perception that Bioware kowtowed to blonde-haters by having a second poll, after #5 originally won. Check his thread on the changing hair colour for a more in-depth debate.
Perception? You say that like that wasn't in fact the case....
Amyra wrote...
My only problem with the freckles is that is not the same face, per se.
Agree, if the second vote was supposed to be about the hair color as is so often repeated she should have retained the blues and beauty mark instead of green eyes and freckles.

If most people actually wanted blondeshep to win then she would've at LEAST gotten close to winning.
Why was Blonde Shep the only one that had to win 2 separate votes to qualify?

I'm quite happy with the redhead. I was really happy they made a second poll in answer to many of the (including mine) "this hairstyle but with color X". If most people actually wanted blondeshep to win then she would've at LEAST gotten close to winning. But guess what? She was last place and blackhair shep was second. So from this poll it's easy to see most people that actually cared enough about femshep to vote of Facebook wanted a redhead. Also the blonde supporters rubbed into the blonde-haters faces a lot so don't act like this thread is knocking down blondeshep as much as you guys were mocking the haters (as much as they deserve to be mocked). This is just to say what you think about redshep's look not for advertising your fight for justice or whatever you're doing. So please if you want to advertise that crap make another thread and discuss it there without blowing up in peoples faces. Oh and stop throwing around the "Oh BSN is filled with men who hate woman!" crap. That just throws all hope of a civil debate out the window and then most people who see your post and will properly respond with "umad bro?" or something equally immature.
One last thing: Stop bringing up the civil rights movement! You either are A: trolling or B: don't have any idea what the civil rights movement was about and what they had to go through to get their rights. So get off your high horse and act a bit more sensible.
TL:DR ranting about why Blac(akatroll)/people who really do believe what this guy is saying should shut up.
/rant
EDIT to clarify:this post to directed to certain people who actually do believe what this guy is saying and not just Blac.

Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on the bus because she herself was black. What she did was incredibly brave and noble, but ultimately a little bit selfish.
I myself am not blonde, so my crusade is a pure and selfless act. To that end, i'm a little better than Rosa.
At first I thought you were sincerely upset about the poll and disappointed that FemShep is not blonde on the marketing materials.
After reading this silly comment, it seems pretty clear that you have been simply trolling for the lulz and actually don't care one way or the other.

Anyway, wasn't this thread supposed to be about appreciating red femshep
I for one love her and might actually use the default in ME3

I have six custom female Shepards, so no doubt I will use their face but with a different hairstyle. I love them too much to change them. Although, I will probably use the new default and play her without any imports. She's too lovely not to play.

I wish we couldve voted to keep her the same as in previous games but I got over it.
In the end I chose to be a rebel and vote for both.

Capcom recently admitted the the redesign of Dante in the reboot of DMC was done solely to attract attention to the game.
Svensson later admitted Capcom knew there would be fan backlash for the design change but said it was all part of the plan.
"I will argue that any changes will bring about a knee-jerk reaction from fans," he said. "We know that; we knew that going into it. To be fair, I think some of the strategy here was to create that discussion and dialogue, and I think it drastically raises the visibility of the title versus if we had just done another Dante."
Here's what i thought of the redesign....

And y'know, you people should shut the hell up with the complaining on your choice not being picked, be glad we had choice at all! They could of just made whatever the hell they wanted and who cares what we think. But they were good enough to ask our opinion on this.

Since they wanted her a bit younger....i think Allison Scagliotti would have been a good choice.
