I'm sure it's answered somewhere in the forums, and I plan to look around for it, but for now... I'm trying to run NWN diamond on Vista, and it's giving me a compatability issue any time I try to run the game. Is there any update or anything I can download to make this not happen?

If you still are having problems you can look at some more settings and stuff here.

It is basically the same guide as shia's but with even some more setting...like the "safemovies" setting and so on...

I'm on Windows 7, but what I did was copy mine over on a thumb drive from my old, dying, XP computer and then transferred the entire NWN directory over to the C: drive in my new Windows 7 machine.

Then I went into the NWN folder and found my nwnmain.exe and nwn.exe files. I just right-clicked on them and went into "Properties". On the Compatibility tab I clicked on the (not sure exact wording) "Run as WIndows XP Service pack 3". Then went down to click on the box to "Run as Administrator".

Then created a short cut to my desktop. And it runs like a charm. No issues (so far).

That is on WIN7. Don't know if Vista would be different or not since I have never used that OS.

As long as the copied version had been updated to v1.69, that works, since the registry information isn't needed but for upgrades.  With a copied version lower than v1.69 you need to manually edit the registry keys to apply patches.

Just right click on the Neverwinter Nights Icon...

Select Properties > Comparability Tab > Change Settings For All Users...

Next make sure these Selections are Selected

Run this program in compatibility mode (Windows XP Service Pack 3)
Disable visual themes
Disable Desktop Composition
Disable Display scaling on high DPI Settings

Select OK & You are done!

Hope that helped...
