I don't really care about horses, but I wish you would stop putting voiced beggars in your games if I can't give them a few coppers.

What's worse than those is Evelina in Act II. You can give her one silver. A pouch full of sovereigns and that's all Hawke can spare.

*spoilers below*

I tried to understand why you can't give those five sovereigns you later give to Walters right there to the woman herself, and the only reason I came up was not adding a minor alternative to Hawke's story: Hawke helps her, she doesn't become an abomination. Hawke refuses to help her, she becomes an abomination.

It didn't even need extra animations for being added to the game.

Well, I can state (from my own experience) that, if I'm playing a game and I see a vehicle (which appears to be in working condition) that I can't drive, but which would offer a significantly easier way of achieving my objective, I immediately wonder 'why can't I drive that?' Different levels of tolerance for different people, though. It's probably that part of me that feels as though all problems can be solved by driving a truck through a plate glass window.

From my own experiences with Superhero rpgs, I feel few problems can't be solved by picking up that truck and repeatedly hitting someone over the head with it. Then throwing it through that aforementioned window.

But its largely frowned upon when you try that with horses. Posted Image

It certainly can be. You need a whole suite of animations (swimming, floating, attacking, casting, diving, surfacing, etc.), and creating good animations can take the longest out of all of the art assets. Plus then you come up with a bunch of questions like "Why can I swim so easily in plate?".

And if you believe BW Austin it messes with pathfinding, too.

Adding a third dimension does tend to make things more complex. The host of associated problems with a whole new method of locomotion tend to be why many games make falling into water instant death.

It'd be kind of cool to ride a horse into the Chantry and start fighting everyone.
Or ride it into the Hanged Man and get the horse drunk. Next to punching out a camel Conan style, I'd have to say getting a horse drunk is my second most wanted thing to do in a video game. In RL I want to give the camel a hat!

Out of curiosity, did you have this reaction seeing one of the oxen-pulled carts, which DAO had quite a few?

I'd imagine having some scenery horses perform similar tasks or being tied to a post in front of a tavern could be acceptable -- the answer to the "why can't i drive that?" being rather obvious "because it's not yours and the devs don't allow you to steal it, just like they don't allow you to murder (or even interact with) the ambient NPCs".

Well, that's your answer then. Just chop off one of the legs.

Thedas can become the land of three-legged horses, and nobody will ask why they can't ride them.

Well...........I don't care too much about horses( would be fine but I'll survive even without them in DA), but I really care about the "new story based content"..I was expecting it announced during the PAX, so I hope that now every day could be the right one!

Wouldn't it be better if they take out one of the cart's wheels?

No, because he's not asking to ride in trailer pulled behind the vehicle. He's asking to drive the vehicle.

The problem with the horse being used as ambient life is not that people want to hitch them to wagons and ride the wagons. They want to ride the horse.

But if the ambient horse can barely stand, let alone move faster than the player could unmounted... well...

Problem: meet Solution. ;-)

Why not just make them all pygmy horses and unable to support the weight of a fully grown adult?

So have Oghren get to ride a pygmy horse in a cutscene and continue to deny the PC.

The point is, eventually, they'll let you play a dwarf again.

And once you show the pygmy horse, you can't take it away.

That's not a solution. That's simply a delayed reaction. They may not cry in DA3, but when you return the dwarf PC, they will cry then. And they will cry loudly.

No, the surgical approach is clearly the best. :-)

This logic is irrefutable. Better get the bone saws ready.

Wyverns, eh? I'm very curious to see how distinctive their artwork is compared to the dragons'. Wyverns typically share the same physical attributes as dragons, with the exception that they don't have any front legs and that their tail has a barbed end.

I hope, if they indeed  make an appearance, that they're less regal and more ferocious looking than the dragons. Posted Image

Really, it broke my heart every time I had to pass by that old dwarf in Orzammar's Hall of Heroes. :(

Indeed, I try every time I play-through to give him something lol.

Snarky Hawke mentions Puddles the Turtle as one of the things out for her blood in Legacy. Well, Puddles and the Holy Cheesewheel of Andraste...

Better idea: Hawke IS the dragon. Flemeth paid up and let Hawke become one.

Lol, that would be cool.  If there was a DA2 expansion that let a mage Hawke abuse his abilities and become an evil bad ass dragon like Flemeth, that would be great.

Ah. Dragon riding again. Great. Dragons are rare or at least that's the lore, but somehow the Kirkwellian a**clown managed to train one..through its decades of growth...to a full sized flying mount. Why not just go full on stupid? How about Hawke trains one of the old god dragons and let him ride it around during another blight; only it will be a good blight. Hawke will ride his dragon darkspawn around burning down chantrys and killing templars. Furthermore, the dragon will be fully romanceable. Wow, I think I achieved a perfect nirvana of stupidity there.

You are pretty touchy about a picture that turned out not to have dragon riding.
