Although i've been a Gamer since 1988, i was out of loop during very early 2000s, and if it wasn't for this game, i would not be a gamer now.
So, not only do i love this game more than any other game out there, but its also a game that i owe a something that i can never repay(Well, it would actually be VALVe(which is my favorite company ever), but you know what i mean).
Yes, Half Life 2, my favorite game ever, No Doubt.

For me the honor goes the largest time sink ever. I've clocked more than 1500 hours in X3: Terran Conflict. After about 1000 hours I thought it was time to do the first mission. Awful animations, terrible voice acting, a story that even cannot be called one, but fantastic gameplay, dedicated devs, cool modding community, and a terrific sandbox game.
Did you ever play the previous X-games, AFW? I think I spent the least amount of time in Terran conflict. The storylines are stronger in the first three, but I shudder to count the endless hours I spent playing the whole series. That said, I can't wait for X:Rebirth.
I'd be hard pressed to pick my all time favorite. But off the top of my head I'd probably go with either Sid Meier's Pirates or Final Fantasy Tactics. Those are the two games I've made it a point of replaying on every system they've ever come out on. Starting with the Commodore-64 in Sid's case. And currently on my iphone in FFTs case.

This and the second game got me into RPGs in the first place. I still love the story.

2) Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
3) Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
4) Mass Effect 2
That's my list. Tentatively, ME2 is in danger of being kicked off by Human Revolution. We'll see how it stands the test of time.

I've own the game for 3 years now...I haven't even installed it yet. >.>
For my favorite not sure. Probably this first game I ever beat when I was young and I still love the series today. I may be a PC gamer first now but I will always own a Nintendo console for Zelda.

or

These two games are probably my favourite ever. Real time tactical battles, turn based strategy empire building through money/economy, sabotage, diplomacy, force, or a combination of all, limited levels of character building and RPG elements, AI that guarantees that no two campaigns are ever the same, a whole host of mods that do a variety of things from improving/adding gameplay elements, to entire overhauls to a Lord of the Rings or Warhammer setting.
With mods, these games are the epic of epics (for me). No RPG (or game in general) has anything on the Total War games, mostly thanks to the outstanding mod community.
Out of the box, no modding, maybe Fallout 2.

Beat every single Zelda out since the age of 5, but Ocarina of Time holds a special place in my heart.
Also, battle beween Grandia and Chrono Trigger for their epic storyline.
