Em's nice, but overrated. I'd say he's top 10 but not top 5.
If we're talking painting pictures with words specifically I'd say Black Thought or Ghostface. Thought is on the last verse in this. He doesn't get the recognition he deserves.

Disclaimer : At the risk of sounding pretentious as f, I am not like those regular eminem fans that only know him for his commercial success. I started listening to the dude when he was still with the outsidaz and lost my casette tape.
Anyway as an emcee.
Punchlines : he should stop the corny punchlines.
Flow : 2002 em was a beast.
Compound Syllables : Eminem is probably the best to do it alive. I have heard people do compound syllables but they end up making no sense, eminem uses that and still manages to paint a picture.
Topic : 99-03 was diverse, current eminem is stale and I think he knows that.
