Similiarities between this band and George Clinton? Sure: All of them played with George Clinton, but this time it's produced by Bill Laswell.
As far as I know Axiom Funk was never a real band. Instead it was a kind of "Best Of" album (called "Funkronomicon") of various Bill Laswell projects under the Axiom label and included super bands like Praxis with artists like Buckethead.
