The notion of being forced to restore peace is pretty tired if its only the Mage-Templar conflict. "Save the World" type scenarios really only work when its against some big common enemy that threatens everyone, like the darkspawn/reapers or the Others/White Walkers in something like A Song of Ice and Fire.

If the conflict was more faction based a la New Vegas, with the PC capable of basically siding with one side over the other, that would be better. But having the PC be forced to try and achieve peace between warring factions would be boring. Let the PC be the one driving the world towards change, not necessarily driving it back to the status quo.

On the other hand, it does say 'trying to restory peace'. Making no notion or mentioning of if this will happen or under which conditions thit will happen. I just can't see how this can be possible - creating peace between what is basically two opposing sides . mages and templars. The mages want their freedom, the tempars want to reign the mages in again - in circles, I guess.

Hm. Only real new thing is Party Bonus', which could be good or bad. No real gray area there.

Well if they started on development after DA2 was released 3 years from the release of DA2 should be fine.

I am not sure if another templars versus mages game works. I wasn't exactly happy how that worked the last time. I was hoping for something with an actual story. ;)

Agreed. If the  Mage-Templar conflict is going to continue into DA3, I'd prefer it be a kind of side story that isn't the main conflict, but perhaps influences/interferes with a newly-introduced conflict.

But having the PC be forced to try and achieve peace between warring factions would be boring. Let the PC be the one driving the world towards change, not necessarily driving it back to the status quo.

I completely agree. I definitely would prefer if we could choose our side and actively catalyze the progression of the conflict, even if one side always loses for the purpose of keeping the resolution canon.

I'm assuming that either the DA3 announcement or the DA2 DLC/ExPack will be at SDCC 2012. Of course, now that ME3 is within EA's first quarter, hopefully DA3 will be in their 2013 first quarter.

My biggest concern is it sounds like they might be going back to the old, "Here's you're dilemma. To solve it you must go gather these widgets spread across the game world. You've collected them? Good! Here's the end game." Formula, which would be very disappointing. Of course, this is all based on two sentences, which is hard to base anything off of, so this might well end up being wholly inaccurate. I really hope it is. I mostly enjoyed those games, but Bioware was right in trying to move on.

Once again look for allies? Oh god:( With dragon age 2 they finally left that type of plot, and here it is back.
In NWN we were looking for 4 parts of the artifact
In HoTU we were looking for 4 allies
In KOTOR we were looking for parts of the artifact
In ME2 we were looking for allies.
In ME3 we will be looking for allies.
In DA:O we were looking for allies.
And once again in DA3 we will be looking for allies. Great.

There's also two plot hooks begging to be resolved: Flemmeth & Sandal. Perhaps we'll get to see some of it in DA 3.

Gathering allies again eh?
Oh well... better than doing chores for random people inside a city.

I will love Dragon Age 3 as long as these things happen:

1. No more game filling, pointless fetch/find quests.Give us sidequests which offer variety and don't just feel like someone just gave us a list of chores to do.

2. Although combat was improved in DA2, I would've preferred more realistic animations. (At least give characters more gravity)

3. Please don't put us back in Kirkwall. Also Skyrim has over 150 dungeon layouts, at least give us more than 6 in DA3.

4. I have killed Anders twice now, can he stay dead please?

Nobody is ever happy, it seems.

But as far as vague teasers go, I think this one has potential.

So long as they spend time writing a coherent, interesting, and multi-dimensional plot, and come up with gameplay/lore/interaction that is well developed and mature, then I will continue to be interested to see where they are going in DA3.

If DA3 is only about mage vs templar again, it would be very boring. Like Varric said: i'm sick of mages and templars.
About where Hawk is going, i bet he/she is going to deep roads with The Warden and while the whole world is in chaos.
P.S Quote from Albert Einstein "Peace cannot be kept by force. it can only be achieved by understanding." As far as i see, i don't think it is possible to bring peace because both side are just about to start the war.

I'd like to see the Fade Warrior Specialization from Awakening make a re-appearance only without the translucent head and visible eyeballs. i was running around with that on for 90% of awakening and it made me laugh during most story sequences.

Hopefully wipe out the chantry to the last novice is an option...Vlad the Impaler style for preference.

Hmm I don't want to help the Chantry... Do not force players to side with them please, let people choose, I rather see mages free of the Chantry! thanks in advance!

Oh! and could some of the mages in da3 are not portrayed as crazy/lunatic and totally idiotic/demon-lovers? please? I don't care if they are blood mages, just don't turn them stupidly/retarded. Instead of the mages in DA3 looks like merril style make them Morrigan style.

Hopefully the story won't get in the way of role-playing too much this time. It sounds like we're going to be forced to do peace, even though I can't think of any reason why that would be necessary. It's a bit early to guess though.

All the events that take to the mage-templar conflict sound artificial and forced to me. I hope they come with a better explanation than DA2 ending. I was hoping that Bioware recract from that mess, but it seems they can't just simply forget about DA2 plot. Sigh.

Well, at least I hope they understand that Hawke is not exactly a popular character, and reduce her impact and appearences to the minimum. It's reading too much on those lines but... "the main character – who has yet to be named – " means another fixed main character? I'd rather see some kind of origins system coming back.

Indeed, and to be the agent of that chaos, rainnig down destruction at your whim. That may a bit too "properly" RP, though. :D
