Dragon Age II's story was good, the problems were elsewhere. As for Mass Effect 3, I saw no problem with the ending, people just doomed themselves with high expectation and pre-game headcanoning.
The ME3 ending aside (I hated it, but I see that you didn't), I didn't enjoy the game as much as the previous installments. And I sure enjoyed the story of DAO more than DA2.
3. I think you're grasping at straws with that theory. The decision about whether or not to close off the fade or tear down the barrier to it would be so drastic that it'd have to be endgame, and Bioware has been clear that DA3 is not the end of the series.
I certainly didn't mean to 'grasp at straws,' just to offer a good alternative to the Templar focus of the story. But you're right that a choice to shut the Fade seems like a series finale, not a step in a continuing story.
"Saving the world from itself" is described by the fact that there is an all out war going on between mages and templars, etc.
Yep, that's the predominant theory in this thread and may well be the focus of DA3. Like some other posters, I was hoping for a new line, or a return to the focus on the unsettled deeps.
