I believe it also may be possible to get Samara’s loyalty mission before the ship triggers even with Zaeed and Kasumi previously being recruited IF you do not awaken Grunt from his tank until after the Collector Ship. By recruiting Samara then doing loyalty/N7 missions her loyalty mission *should* unlock since Grunt will be skipped in the order due to him not being on the team yet. I cannot clarify this myself however. In any case, my priority for the 5(+) post Horizon missions has always been to prepare for Collector Ship as much as possible. Which means Jack’s loyalty, Samara’s recruitment, and maximizing biotic/weapon/shield upgrades.

That's an interesting observation! I never tried that - always awoke Grunt immediately after completing his recruitment mission. Has anyone tested this - Grunt not counting towards the (total) number of recruits?

I knew from searching through the forums here that a "sleeping" Grunt does not count as a member of the team for purposes of the eight in total you need to trigger the Collector ship. In this (potential) example I meant that by not having him awakened *might* move Samara forward in the queue of loyalty mission conversations (there is a number sequence for them in the strategy guide). Normally her loyalty conversation is unlocked after four missions (five counting her dossier) at least if recruited first, and Grunt is one of the loyalty missions ahead of her.

What I was not certain of is if the absence of Grunt unlocks her conversation one mission sooner, or if the game just gives you no new loyalty conversations between missions 4 & 5.

^Or just use the Alchera exploit if you want to have Grunt around early.

Ok, I give up, what exactly is the Alchera exploit?  I noticed you mentioned it when you were talking about Samara,

"Don't forget Samara - Alchera Time Warp Trick ftw!"   What are you talking about.

As a Vanguard player I usually roll with Garrus and Miranda: Two Overloads, Incisor does massive damage and Warp lets me Warp-bomb.

Basically what he means is you go and do the normandy crash site (planet Alchera) and do the mission. Afterwards, you can return as many times as you want. Each time you return it advances the conversation with squadmates just like completing main plot story missions. This way you can unlock loyalty missions for, as an example, Samara and end up getting reave early than normal.

Read this thread if you want to confirm for yourself. IIRC it still works as of the last released patch.

Yeah, exactly.

Sorry, I thought this exploit was already fairly well known, so I didn't elaborate like I could have.

Repeatedly going to Alchera shuffles up all the 'secondary' plot missions, while keeping the main ones unaffected, which gives you a bit more freedom in nabbing upgrades, crew, equipment, etc.

Wow. Thanks for posting that link. I could use that to get all upgrades from LotSB. You need a mission complete to get the delivery to have something new. Thanks again.

If you're playing on a PC, there's actually another exploit that will accomplish that quite a bit quicker; a new shipment comes every time you change the date on your PC.

change date, quicksave, collect new shipment

Yes, I play Xbox, and when you get on Xbox live it resets your date/time. Its kind of a pain to get all the weapon upgrades.

Just use the Alchera exploit, ppl. Jeez, it's so much easier and more reliable than the other tricks mentioned here. lol
