All the old topics on this were about a year old and I've seen people accused of spam for bringing up an old topic.. so I guess it's prefered to start a new one?

anyways,

I reached my character limit of 9 on the xbox - since it creates a new file for awakenings and other DLC. I understand I need to go to my dashboard, system settings, memory, etc to delete the save files and I have to delete all save files for each character.

My question is - If I understand correctly, I can import into DA2 but I read there are bugs if you import the save files after going through awakenings and WH (like it will assume I did the DR?) - do I need to hold onto the save file from the original run through DAO in order to get a good import into DA2?

Then also save the one after going through Witch Hunt (I always do that one last) if I want to import that same character at the higher level (and possibly have to deal with bugs)?

So this would mean at least 2 save files per character, so I can only really have 4 total?

I hope you guys understand what I am asking... if not let me know and I will try to explain after having had a cup of coffee.

You're lucky that people still actually check the DAO tech boards if you ask me; most of the activity is over at the newer games, i.e., DA2.

Reading your post there are two issues I think you are raising: (1) What can you do regarding the deletion of characters regarding the limit (though I may be wrong on that); and (2) the possible bugs regarding the import to DA2.

With respect to (1) I think you'll need to clarify a bit more. Characters need to be deleted completely so you can create a new one. "Character limit" not save limit. If you keep a save from your DAO Warden and one from Witch Hunt, then that's two characters the game recognises even if you imported. Each character apparently has a save limit, but it's different to a character limit.

With respect to (2) I can't help you as I don't own DA2 on the 360; as such it is advisable to ask that question on the DA2 boards where they should be more familiar with it. Though what I will 'say' is this: since certain choices are bugged anyway in DAO, i.e. plot flags are set incorrectly, they will stay incorrect no matter where you import from (if you see what I mean).

As I understand it there are certain 'bugs' regarding the decisions on import games. The alive-but-not-king Alistair is recognised as king in Awakenings because it is bug in DAO (I anticipate this to be the same in DA2 though I cannot confirm); The Architect's status defaults to being alive (I think); Vigil's Keep being destroyed even though it was saved.

I think I'm rambling now, so I'll stop there.

I did mean character limit - for each warden I end up with 4 character files (DAO, awakenings, golemns and WH). I was worried about deleting 2 or 3 of the 4 and messing up the file for transfer into DA2 (probably another question I should be asking in those forums). It's a shame there is a limit, I don't remember a character limit in MEgames but I've only done 5 shepards so far (each run through twice).

yes I do see what you mean and that is a good point about asking in the DA2 forums. Thanks for taking the time to respond!

The thing with the import system used for DA is that you can essentially choose which save file you import (unlike importing ME to ME2 if you know what I mean). So you can choose either a DAO import, a DAA import, Golems import or even Witch Hunt import.

Technically the Witch Hunt import will have more plot flags for import with DAO the least. If you imported 'correctly' from DAO to DAA then Golems and finally Witch Hunt, you should be able to keep all your decisions from the first three if you only save the Witch Hunt Warden. The bugs will still be there mind you. Also, DAA and Golems have an incomplete status and no post-game save. Judging from what has occurred it seems like an accidental omission on BioWare's part as there's no flag to tell the game you have actually completed those parts.

I do hope there is a way of correcting it, but speculation seems to be that it won't get resolved as it isn't a DA2 problem but a DAO problem; and all work has essentially stopped for DAO (except for certain things concerning the PC version). If BioWare can sort out their import games then that would be marvelous.
