Currently, I have installed BG1, ToSC, and the ToSC official patch on a Windows 7 system and am having a weird bug where enemies will respawn in an area that I've cleared while I'm still in the area. I remember this problem happening in BG1 on my old system, especially in the gnoll stronghold and would usually happen when loading a save. Reloading would actually spawn everything, so if I hadn't cleared out an encounter, there would be twice (or more) the baddies in that spot. However, these problems were fixed (back in the day) by installing ToSC and the official patch. Right now, my party is heading through Albert's woods. I just took out a pack of skeletons, and upon backtracking they've been replaced by a pack of Xvarts. I haven't even reloaded or anything since entering the area. Anyone know a fix? Thanks.

If you've killed the group and completely left the region (so you were far enough away from it that it was covered by the fog of war) and returned, respawns do occur in BG/TotSC IIRC.

There's a bit of a time delay, but they can happen. Unless you see behavior like your first point (with multiple groups spawning on top of each other), I'd say it's probably working as intended (you just got lucky with this spawn point).

This is, as I remember it, a feature not a bug. It is there, I believe, to simply help and encoruage the player to move the story along as in not linger in an area they have already cleared. So, if you backtrack, you'll get re-spawn enemies, but enemies which as are not as strong as those you've first encountered.

This is different. I don't recall seeing this effect before. I'll kill a mob, walk away so that the mob is just out of my fog of war, turn around, and another mob will be right there...instantly.

Still, it's usual behaviour for that area, if it's the area south of Nashkel you're talking about: if you complete Rufie's quest by the usual route, you must fight some skeletons and upon coming back there will be some xvarts there. I did never turn around immediately into the fog of war and say 'hi', but it's indead a feature, not a bug.
