You know Architect, you might have mentioned that your master plan would involve putting every man, woman, and child in Thedas through the Joining. My Warden might have found that aspect interesting... You didn't think that was worth mentioning? No?

Unless he did mention it and I just didn't notice...

Why would he mention that? You've read The Calling. You know what happened last time he tried to explain that part of the plan.

...point. I wonder if he'd planned to Awaken the old gods at that time too or if that brain wave came later.

When I played Awakening (before I read the Calling) I got the impression that the Arcitect wasn't lying - or didn't know how to lie (it seemed like it would be an alien concept to him somehow, I don't know) but now I'm beginning to think he's a lot trickier than he seemed.

Anyway, I got the impression that Awakened darkspawn can control their taint, cause of Armass's "agreement".
Or maybe I'm just looking too deeply into a throw away line.

I just reread The Calling and forgot all about the dealmaking the Architect had done with the tower mages etc. Really threw me at the end of the book. This means he's far more clever than he lets on. But since he has no idea what it is to be human, or to have friends, he cannot possibly understand us. Tests or no. He doesn't get that.

I just remember that after I read the calling I was thinking to myself, 'thanks for the heads up, weisshaupt.'

Yeah, it does have a lot of background on Duncan, and it has a lot of interesting characters in it overall.  I liked it.

Remeber the Architect might be one of the origenal magisters and suggested by the DLC for DA2 "Legacy"

Dont misinterpret bluntness for stupidity or naiveity.

Architect isn't stupid, but he doesn't understand basic human-ness. And neither, apparently, does Utha. What I did notice was how often the Architect's ideas go horribly wrong. Think the mother (what was that, anyway?) and the stuff from The Calling. Then there's the Harvester. Isnt' he somehow related also? No, the more I think about it, the more I realize no matter how he wants to end the blight, the Architect's ideas are all flawed from the beginning (if he really does want to end the blights.) I figure it this way...there are only 3 old gods left. So there are only 3 blights left after Origins. So let them run their course.

1) Why doesn't Utha understand "basic human-ness", considering she's a dwarf?
2) He has nothing to do with the harvester. That was the fault of Tevinter mages and Dwarves trying to make new golems.
3) There are only old gods left. There are 7 in total, and the 5th was killed in Origins. The codex entries that make mention that there's three left take place before the Blight.
