Please don't cut out the percentage that liked both game equally.

65 to 34 is still not an even split.

And you have to factor in the fact that DA2 suffers from poor implementation due to it being rushed. A well made DA2 may have had better results.

No I don't.
It's a poll on DA:O VS DA2, not DA:O VS DA2's potential.

But really, these polls are stupid. The people on the forums are not even a tenth of the fanbase and not even all of those participate in the polls.

These polls simply reflect the opinon of the fanbase that participates on the forums.

Nobody claimed otherwise.

A poll like that doesn't tell Bioware a damn thing. There is no context. And they don't even reflect the opinions of the fanbase that participates on the forums. They reflect the percentage of the forum fanbase that actually votes in polls. And they ultimately mean nothing. There is a 50/50 split on voiced versus silent protagonist and a pretty much 50/50 split between iconic companions and DA:O's method. There is no general consensus on what Bioware should do and there really can't be one.

Criticize poll because polls only represent the opinions of those who have voted in the poll...

...Then claim the results of another poll as fact?

It's funny, I never even said the polls I posted represented the majority fan opinion.

Shouldn't that be 86 to 34?

At least this, to be including the 21.  It's easier to just ignore the 21 percent than try to justify adding the 21 to each...

OR, for getting an accurate % number, split the difference, giving 75 vs 23.

After having fixed looks in games like Jade Empire, ME2 and DA2, I am comfortable saying I do not prefer them over the ability to customize my characters.

I'm sure the idea of fixed appearances seems like win-win for designers, in theory it helps promote a character's unique appearance and personality, and it likely costs a lot less than making every character able to wear a large variety of armors.

Simply put, I don't like the fixed costumes. I want to be able to manage my characters inventory AND appearances. Hopefully at some point Bioware will return to this mechanic.

Part of the joy of picking up loot is how the player can use that loot. If you can't equip your companions with gear in a party-based game, looting and the game economy becomes a lot less compelling and gratifying.

I like the system in Dragon Age 2, since having the characters with an iconic look helps us identify them, but I like this new system too. It sounds interesting in my book.

Seems like a pretty solid compromise to me;those who like the iconic appeareances get to retain them, while those who prefer customization won't get the shaft a la da2.I definetely wouldn't mind seeing a system such as this in DA3.

What I would like is for Characters to have unique look tiers which correlate to the quality of items they are wearing. Some customisability/flexibility with this system would also be great (Characters in heavy armor would have a unique heavy armor look).

Frankly, managing the main character is enough work already, and being my avatar in the world, the only one who's appearance I really care about, I like the idea.

If not going back to Origins' way of allowing you to choose any armor, weapons, etc. is because it's a cost saving move, I'd just like to say that if DA2 didn't have all the useless items in bags, crates, cartons, chests, and filler quests, they could have used the resources on making armor/weapons usable for npcs as well as pcs, and also done a better job on eliminating the "fully clothed" romances. I remember reading that some dev said they would have done more but had to cut costs on the game.

I would rather see the Origins way of handling items, which was in keeping with traditional rpgs, than the DA2 method, but I think the poll won't change what they obviously already plan to do. I still vote No.

This describes my mentality as well. I don't mind my companions fighting with me, but my PC is ultimately at the center of my RPG experience.

I desire multiple appearences and good stats/upgrades and such too. No compromise. I am a gamer not a developer it is not my job to choose to sacrifice something because they don't wish to spend time or money doing it. As a gamer my concern is what I would like in the game not what costs or time developers have to spend or take to make it happen. I would like a large vareity of selection in outfits/armours (more than dozen for each companion, between ten to twenty seems adequate for myself; the more the better) even if that means whole set (top and bottom as one) rather than specific parts of set (trousers/shirt/tops middle and bottom) and that goes for main protaganist and his or her companions even if each set has specific look designed for those companions.

I would like all those sets and additional peices trinkets/weapons necklaces and rings etc to be customisable via stats and upgrades too. I am not willing to support compromise just because they can't be bothered to invest the time or money to make it happen. It is as simple as that and I do not need to justify it more than already have. If has those things I will be inclined to buy the game, if it does not I will be inclined not to buy it, thats life and thats my opinion.

You may moan and complain about my stance to hearts content but neither of those things will change what I would like to see in the next game from the standpoint of a customer who may buy the next title based on what the next title has or does not. If they make what I just described happen then it is what I wanted so naturally will be in the "inclined to buy" side but if does not happen like described above then it will be in the "inclined not to buy" side. Thats just how the cookie crumbles.

I support this idea. I really dont like the fact that I have all these armors and outfits and am only aloud to give to just one character. I like the idea of making and giving them a look to call my own.

Strongly opposed. I found myself able to finally make up my mind on this. I received enough information on the reasons for this. The value of iconic/distinctive looks and unique body models is garbage compared to the things we would give up. It doesn't matter of course, Bioware seem set on the matter and will go their way anyway.

They are sacrificing customization of the game's looks, for something of very dubious marketing value. I find myself having a strong suspicion of interference from EA marketing department. What I also fear are the "distinctive looks" themselves, which Bioware will force upon us. Fenris Image IPB, Isabela Image IPB, Flemeth Image IPB do not bode well for what they have in stock for us.
