In an ancient time before the very first darkspawn every lived, far in the land now known as the Tevinter regions, a race of men known as Tevinter mages ruled over the lands with their magic. Conspirations where a man would steal power from another were common things, were slavery is accepted and, basically, were anything horrible is a common thing. It was in that obscur region that the prophet Graevan the brigth had forseen the uprising of a man of good that would bring only chaos to the world. That is why I needed to slay the beast before it even became the beast!
Chapter 1
The small amout of light emitting from the lantern could barely light the path of the five armed guards and the old man. All it would light up though, would be a mere meter. The old man was really starting to get annoyed! How could anyone live in these places? The Wastelands, the parazite of Tevinter, scum haven, the dark city. The Wastelands was the last place in the entire city that the old man would have wanted to end up in. His insides were still burning of rage and hatred for his lord. When he warned his lord about the danger that Tevinter was in, he had hopped for a reward of some sort. Some reward! He was forced to hunt down the woman who would give birth to the child, only aided by five soldiers. He never should've warned the poor bastard! But, now, it was too late to moan and whine, he had a mission to do and the quicker the better.
The convoy really wan't the most subtle thing he could have gotten. The five soldiers, if you could even call them that, were all dressed with their bronze armors, armed with their swords and shields, they made a lot of noise. It was a good protection but honnestly, the old man wasn't a man who liked to spill blood and the guards already had killed twelve bandits. Nothing stays a secret long in the Wastelands but this was just ridicules! The guards killed two bandits and the word whent out so quick that they had to killed ten more. The old man looked to his right and finally saw what he was looking for.
If the Wastelands are known for something other than the bandits and thugs, it for it's runaway slaves and the poor people who usually help them out. The old man signaled the guards to enter the house. The doors breaks open and the guards rush in capturing every one inside. after a couple of minutes, the old man walks in. He finds a chair, puts a small tissue on it and sits down. In front of him, kneel down, are seven people; an old man, an old woman, two young boys, two young girls and finally, what he was looking for, a woman between two ages. By the look of her belly, she's pregnant. her long brown hair falling upon her face, she shakes as the oldman looks at her.
- What do you want us to do with them ser? askes one of the leader of the guards.
- The boys can be sold on the slave market for a decent price. The girls will make good profit if we sell them to ****houses. The pregnant one is mine.
- And as for the parents? askes another guard.
The old man looks at him with a calm look and says:
- They're expendable.
The children and the pregnant woman were tied up and brought back to the old man's home. Once there, the old man brought the woman to his room to interogate her. she sat down on a small bench in front of his chair. He looked at her and said:
- I am the prophet Graevan. Lord Parador's loyal servant. Now tell me young lady: do you know why I was sent for you? (she shooked her head) I was sent there because inside of you laying in his slumber lays the Blood Beast! "A man of good who will bring only chaos, from the blood of a slave to the blood of a prince, the beast of blood shall drink, for it cannot be satisfied, it can only be pleased." That is the destiny of the seed within you! (he sighs and looks as if he gained age over the couple of seconds that he stayed silent) You know, I am not the man who loves to spill blood. If the opportonity was given, I would make a potion that would simply kill the seed within you. Alas, the stage of developpement is too far now and he cannot be killed as long as you live.
The woman rose her head to face the old man. This one was amazed at what he saw, a delicate and rare beauty. his heart started to pound faster has his hand reached to touch her face. The woman's eyes were the most fascinating he had ever seen. Has if they were emitting a light blue aura. Suddently, a though came through his mind: he didn't deserve to live and to see her die! He reached for his knife with only one idea in mind; kill himself. Has his knife went to taste his throat's blood, a knock on the door made him snap out of the moment. His eyes whent from the woman's face to the knife and then to the door.
- A mage, he whispered.
Before he could even answer a word, the woman jumped and pushed the knife into his throat. he looked with scared eyes the blade tainted with his blood. A servant asked if all was well. Since the answer didn't came he asked louder. The woman looked everywhere in a beastly speed. The only exits were through the doors or the windows. She was on the second floor, so the windows could be fatal. The only other option was to take a weapon and fight the guards. She ran for the knife and got ready as the doors busted open by two guards.
It didn't take long before they understood what was going on. They sounded the alarm as the woman jumped on the first one, perforating the eye of the poor man with the blade. The injured guard tried to grab her but she swiftly backed awy from him. He whent for his sword and notice it was missing. The woman rose the medium blade and lungded for the injured guard's chest. The armor deflected the blade that whent right in the throat. The other guard jumped on her trying to get her back on the wall. The woman knew barely how to use a knife and the sword was no different. She had to rely on her instinct to send out weak and random attacks. The other guards arrived to see the dead bodies of the prophet and the unlucky guard. They also arrived just in time to see the woman, who didn't have much choise, jump through the window. As she landed, she tried to roll to break her fall. It only partially worked. A large cracking noise came from outside. When the guards got there, she was crawling, her legs in unatural positions. When she landed, she pushed on her legs which hit the ground and broke under her weigth added to the fall. The guards tied her up and got her in a cell. If they think it would be that easy to hold her up, they were wrong. None of them had seen that she was a mage. Once she was certain to have been left alone, she concentrated on healing her legs. There was no way they were going to take the child from her.
