There are spoilers in this thread. Big ones. And they aren't marked (I'm looking at you, In Exile). If you haven't played DXHR to completion, don't read it.

What? That was obvious from the start of the game if you read Megan's files, and it beat you over the head with it like a bloody stumb by the tim you hit the first limb clinic.

I think Deus Ex HR is a good example of a third person shooter with RPG elements.

They've argued with - and even at times antagonized - their fanbase for suggesting that if Mass Effect were more of an RPG, if it had a little more depth, it would be an even better game.

Deus Ex is certainly less of an RPG.

On the gunplay angle, you're a master of all weapons.

On the leveling system, you have "XP" but really what you have is a mission-based XP system that allows you to almost fully upgrade all your abilities over the course of the game.

What Deus Ex does better than ME is implement the same RPG elements, but it by no means has mroe of them.

But here is Deus Ex: Human Revolution. A very deep, very nuanced hybrid RPG that is essentially a product of the same late-90s/early-00s PC gaming philosophy

Lol! It's a game that has less RPG features that the original, with less character customization (you could at least choose from 4 skins of JC, including giving him his "real" name), and had more complex elements (lockpicking and multitools).

I just started playing Deus Ex and I love it but it still feels like a distraction to me until ME3 comes out. (which is what every game basically has been for the last few months) But I've gotta say Deus Ex is the best distraction. Seems like a lot of Mass Effect fans love it. No need to start flame wars over such awesome games and ruin it. Just love the experience, thats what gaming is about.

Personally I love Deus Ex, but I enjoy Mass effect more because I feel, (just opinion) that there is more character depth. The fact that you can romance and earn the trust of characters makes the RPG so personal- which is what I'm looking for in an RPG. Also, I love the gameplay mostly because I am so used to Mass Effect I totally feel like a boss when playing. However, this is what I love about Deus ex- it feels very rewarding and challenging because the gameplay is complex and layered. The complexity is really impressing and as I'm playing it, I have to sometimes pause just to say "holy ****."

Good things about both games.

One very important character in DXHR is a woman, and she is the PC's love interest of sorts.

They broke up, they were still friends, and it's not clear Megan wasn't with Adam for his DNA anyway. A female PC could totally work.

Hell, just remove references to "Megan" and go with "the attack" and there you go. It's such an unimportant part of the game, really, that the gender doesn't matter at all.

Thanks for the spoiler(I did already expect it anyway.)

Wait, that was the spoiler? I kind of assumed as much from about the beginning.

I'll admit I did love getting the 'Old School Gamer' achievement for taking time to find every little thing in her office. Image IPB

Though it is a shame that in true game-cliche fashion, Adam remains ignorant of stuff that they blatantly hit you over the head with until very late in the game.

If Deus Ex gets the GOTY Award then yes, we can say it's better or at least equal with ME2, but we all know it won't.

So to be a high quality product you must win awards?

How many awards did Blade Runner recieve? In fact, how well did Blade Runner do in the theaters back in 1982?
