I wouldn't mind at all if Shepard died in the end as long as it was more than just missing a jump into the shuttle. It could be a really good story if he has to die to stop the Reapers, as long as they did it right and wouldn't take away any re-play value for me. I'm not trying to bash Bioware and very clearly said "I could be wrong". I feel it's the way the story should end.
There is also nothing that would stop me from buying game, and I have been reading info that's been easily found. Am I part of your read every post on the boards, all twitter post and every single video game sight religion no. I did think that bioware said they would not talk about dlc until the game was released, and have never heard of any post game dlc confirmation.

Death does not equal a definitive and finished story.
Indeed. They are unimaginative, cheap and unfulfilling.

Maybe in a video game (so far) but not in books and movies.
It has to be pulled off excellently and not thrown in the last second to end the story. Otherwise, it's cheap and unfulfilling.

Bioware is the only company that could do it IMO.
Blind faith, I love it!

After all that? Making choices that 'matter' and deciding all kinds of big things, conflicts, life and death situations and what not and still Shepard dies? I'd feel f...ed by BioWare. I'm not going through all this just to die in the end, super paragon heroic sacrifice be damned. Not on my watch.
ETA: Some time ago it was confirmed there will be an option to play future DLC after the main game, meaning Shepard wouldn't suffer a mandatory death in ME3. If he dies, it's your own fault.

What the hell is the obsession with Shepard being the next Jesus Christ sacrificing himself for all of Humanity ?
I
will not be amused if they did the same "Waaah waaah your such a jerk
for wanting to live rather than sacrifice yourself waaaah" ending FO3
got for an 'alternatively' ending.

Shepard already died. A second death won't have much impact. It would be rather comical actually. Shepard the incompetent zombie space marine, savior of the galaxy. He died twice so that you may live!
.....and then when you download the first ME3 DLC it is revealed that everyone in the galaxy who survived halted the reconstruction of the galaxy to chip in for a whopping 4,000,000,000 creds so they can bring Shepard back in the super cliche LAZARUS PROJECT 2.0!!!
-mandatory EA ass-pull DLC, coming soon

Any one else think their is no ending which Commander Shepard lives? Bioware has stated a few things such as this being a definive ending for the Commander and the game will make you cry. I know I could be wrong, but what would you feel if this is the case.
I absolutely guarantee there will be at least one ending where Shepard lives. Why?
Because they already confirmed that as part of New Game + you can choose to continue on like ME2 and finish sidequests. This would be rather difficult to do, if dead.

But most of the popular stories the main character lives.
Star Wars
Star Trek
Lord of The Rings
the list goes on...
So I'm not too sure about Shepard dying being cliche.

plenty of stories end with the hero dying in videogames, classical literature and movies
Vanilla Fallout 3
Infamous
Technically ZoE1
300
Aliens
Hercules dies for pissing off his wife
Achilles dies
Odisseus is killed by his son and so is King Arthur
just saying.....
all we need now is the option to choose

I'm sure it will be a possibility, but they confirmed happy endings and post game. With all the other stuff? The answer is clearly no.

Would anyone mind if Shepard eventually sided with the reapers? It wouldn't have to be a renegade ending, he could do it for the right reasons (to stop them from killing everyone).
