Only in the DLC's... which is alright by me. Let them experiment. But the Shadow Broker DLC more than made up for it. That one made me wish for just more DLC's, like a tv series, because it was so perfect. But for the main game, nothing comes to mind, and that is good.

CSI:Illium

so it's been tried and had major suckage? i get it.

however, for me, shadow broker was actually that good. so it can be done.

hard sale, tho?

Oh, how I cringe every single time I hear that line.

That and Shepard comparing the genophage to the FCW were the worst lines ever uttered in that game.

Early on in ME 1 Shepard did seem a bit clueless at times but they were trying to teach the player about the universe and setting, though they still could have made Shepard seem more knowledgable.  Of course there is a line in DAO where your warden can ask What is the Deep Roads.

Oh, I'm for the idea, I liked not having to think with my gun for a little bit.

OMG i thought you dead but no i loved you but now you work with baddies so go f you.

In my opinion, there are worse writing offenses than Horizon. If they'd bothered to think up something inventive to pass those 2 years, instead of just killing off Shepard, Horizon wouldn't have been so horrifically done.

And by "Horizon being horrifically done" i mean having no option to scream in the Survivor's face.

For those who play lots of games, the beginning seemed almost standard issue, so I imagine many will agree with you. I'm a bit of a nube, admittedly sticking to my select favorites, and it totally worked on me! The emotional impact even went further for me to where I was imagining all sorts of possible after effects on Shep after having saved everyone from near certain death, even down to dragging Joker's ass off, but then being abandoned by everyone except Liara and Cerberus. Yeah, my Shep still loves Joker but also has some issues with his lack of appreciation and later comments about leaving him for the Collectors?!?! Ash/Kad, too. And I totally wouldn't change a thing about all that. My Shep only cracks emotionally on rare occasions like talking to reporters (no punching tho) and with Liara in private.

I liked Horizon. Made me hate VS with a passion, more than I hate the Reapers. It's not easy to do something like that in such a short time.

I am pissed at the VS but that isn't the same as hating them, besides put yourself in their shoes.  Cerberus has reputation for being a xenophonic terrorist organization that frequently uses unethical means to achieve their ends.  In ME 1  they murdered an alliance admiral for investigating them etc... then all of a sudden your commander whom you looked up and trusted shows up one day working for them?  That would feel like a punch in the gut to anyone.

For me, it's definitely renegade Shep shooting Shiala on Feros. That is just so wrong. The whole scene just causes a knot in my stomach.
Also not doing the paragon interrupts on the sick Batarian (Omega) and especially the wounded Salarian (Dantius Towers, Illium) in ME2. Same effect.
And then there is the Overlord ending. At least you can pistol slap the bastard.

EDIT: Oh, just to make it clear, I didn't interpret the title of the thread as mentioning bad scenes in the sense of bad design. I think the scenes I mentioned are designed very well, I emant, scenes that are just showing messed up situations.

Horizon is a screwed up moment. And...The weird as hell rape-face when talking to Miranda "Oh! I'm interested!" It's super-creepy. How Miranda didn't run for the hills when she saw that...I just don't know.

It's not weak of heart.  It's just ****ed up that the developers remind you of the price you are paying for revenge.

Shep asks Kenson how they're protecting themselves from indoctrination. Kenson gets defensive and avoids the question. Saw it coming from a mile away.

The colonist that got ground into paste on the collector base. The one second where the camera switches to her POV. It was unsettling.

All of Arrival is a big pile of contrived nonsense.

Dont send in an army... - Three people is an army ADMIRAL, Seriously ?
Proof of Reapers... - Thanks dude, you want me to clean up a Reaper mess so you can deny it later ?

--- Get on shuttle and fly away ---

Off to Project Base... - This shuttle automatically knows how to fly there and can do so with no pilot, huh ?
I was captured... - Yeah, lets take you to the Normandy for a medical checkup, or not ?
We found a Reaper artifact... - Uhh, I think a trip to the Normandy is in order to check for indoctrination ?
We plan to destroy a relay... - Seriously, turn this thing back to the Normandy... Sigh, why bother
We arent indoctrinated, trust me... - How about I just send a message to the Normandy, aww f**k it !

--- At Project Base ---

Look at all these mysteriously closed doors and railroaded path the NPC is taking through armies of people that arent doing anything while she talks endlessly.

Kenson: HAH ! I am a turncoat, didnt see that one coming did you. I brought you here to the Project so you cant stop the Project
Shepard: Curse you evil villain, I will smack you up and shoot at you with terrible accuracy as you slouch away.

--- One Day Later ---

Joker: The Commander has been gone for a day without communication, should we be worried ?
EDI: Shush, we arent mentioned in the script
Joker: Isnt that kind of stupid for a military ship to lose its commander for days without notice
EDI: Joker, STFU and just accept the lazy writing
Joker: Thats so sad even I cant make a joke out of it

--- Two Days Later ---
Dr ******: Mmm, Shepard keeps adapting to sedatives, I wonder if we should do a check... ah nevermind
Guard: Shepard is adapting to sedatives, should we restrain him or stay outside the forcefield, nah

-Moments later -
Shepard: Pekaboo, *woosh, smack poof* Now to use this convinient mech terminal to get me out
Just as well they kept my weapons and gear just outside and only a minimum or guards. Must be low population in this base...

-Ten miniutes later-
Shepard: Jesus Christ, I thought this was a small research expedition.
Why did I have to break Kenson out again if they have an army on hand ?

- Two Hours Later -

Hacket: What the Hell happened ?
Shepard: What the hell did you expect you *CENSORED* *CENSORED*. Sending me alone to rescue some *CENSORED* that was studying Reaper Tech without a *CENSORED* clue she was messing with.
Hacket: Well your screwed now cause the Batarians will blame us but we will shift the blame to you
Shepard: *CENSORED* , wait I recorded stuff on my Omni Tool... that can prove it wasnt me
Hackett: Shush, Omni tools only do that when plot demands it
Shepard: *CENSORED* *CENSORED* *CENSORED*
Hackett: I can play nice with Cerberus when I have to...
Shepard: You *CENSORED* kidding me ? I get shouted at and accused of being a traitor without any attempt to defend myself and you pull this *CENSORED* *CENSORED*.

Hackett: Just be ready to take the hit when it comes
Shepard: Right back at ya *CENSORED*

--- Five miniutes later a body dressed in an Admiral's uniform is seen floating helplessly in vaccum without a suit ---

Joker: That was a bit extreme
Shepard: Not really, an Admiral would never be on a Cerberus vessel and no proof I was at Project Base now...

Offhand...

Cheerleader telling Shep what to do with Veetor after his revelation. So much for agreeing to follow Shep's command on the trip to F'sP.

Listening to Jacob's comments while doing his LM.

Shep's dialogue with EDI on the human reaper.  Shep was extraordinarily obtuse and EDI extraordinarily "prescient". Useless conversation and a dumb way to unplug the reaper. Who the heck was opening and closing the plating on the injectors???

Deafness and blindness of Keilam's lawyer. C-Sec officer reporting in and Baily's barely 4 metres away from him.

Shep failing to nail Kenson after the trap was sprung and after trying to shoot her dead at the core. How far away was Kenson?

This is so true.

Especially the one with Kensen. Stop using that whimpy Shuriken and use your assault rifle, Shepard!

Two come to mind that people have already mentioned

1) VS on Horizon: I scratched my head after that, and thought to myself... how the hell can they not understand I was in a f*cking coma that I just came out of... WTF!??

2) Random mission before the Collector attack on the Normandy: If it's even possible, this pissed me off more than the VS on Horizon! It was such a moronic scene. Why would I choose my entire squad within the shuttle, when it never happened before? Why would we leave the Normandy during an important installation?

Ahh... I was so disappointed during both these scenes, and it made me doubt the brilliance of Mass Effect especially after comparing these scenes to ME1.

"It was a long time, Kaidan. How you've been?" - headkeyboard. Shepard, you might say "herp derp" as well.

"Dr. Chakwas? Are you okay?" - she's hanging on your arms with eyes partially rolled back and barely avoided liquifying a moment ago. Of course she's perfectly fine.

"Love? I just want to bed you" - the most screwed paragon line IMO.

Shepard letting Kenson escape both near Object Rho and at reactor core. Vanguard Shepard suddenly forgot how Charge works?

I think Nihlus is Duncan, rather than King Cailan.

He's set up as your uber bad ass mentor and then shortly after taking you under his wing, he's killed. Duncan does get more screen time than Nihlus, but I think Nihlus has more in common with his character than Cailan.

Cailan was Conrad Verner with a crown.

Everyone into the shuttle!   We've got some random mission to do and need every single squad member to do it!

Although I don't know ME3's story (for obvious reasons), this is possibly the worst scene in the trilogy.
