DAO was talk talk talk some more walk around abit hack slash cast a spell pick up an item breath in and repeat many times over till you go blind or turn into a couch potato

That does not take away from the truth that it won alot of awards.

I was meerly saying that obviously due to that there are no doubt large numbers of people enjoying these RPG's that didnt buy them so while sales figures are important they're much less so than they used to be

You really live in denial.

And you will likely be the first one to complain when DA:3 comes out because it will have some elements from Origins.

You need to face some facts bud...

If the game had already surpassed Origins sales they would have shouted it from the rooftops and NOT look for feedback from fans.

There would NOT be all these articles about them acknowleding the missteps made with the game.

And look at this ...............

Can you read the title of the above article............

It says.......... BioWare Aiming To Combine The Best Of Two Worlds For ‘Dragon Age 3′

Yes it did win alot of awards at the time but back then most RPG's on the market were traditional RPG's like Origins now 3yrs down the line the competition has changed and may even change again in the 2-4 that it will likely be before DA3 is made and released so unless between now and then the market demand switches back to traditonal RPG's its unlikely that EA will allow Bioware to steer DA3 back to the tried and tested formula Bioware may well be the Right developer for DA3 but EA is definatly the wrong company to be in charge so i'm not going to get my hopes up of DA3 being anything other than DA2 with a serious speed adiction

The competition hasn't changed.  At all.    DA:O was competing with the likes of the  CDProjek's Witcher, and Bethesda's RPGs. (fallout 3, etc.) And today, Dragon age 2 finds itself competing with...   CDProjekt's Witcher 2, and  in a couple of months,   another Bethesda  game  (Skyrim).

God damn your arguments on this thread  are crap.

yes i can read the article its standard fare to try and calm the screaming masses of course they'll say that and for all the articles you point towards you seem to be oblivious to the most critical point, the company in charge, the ones who control the big pot of money that will be used to make DA3 and that is...... EA and does EA have a track record of actually listening to their customers? you can bet your butt they dont ? why Because as a global mutli Billion $ company that has their fingers in all the games genre pies they can afford not to.
Now I'm not saying dont be optermistic because if it goes like a hyper DA2 yes i will be 1 of the 1st in line...... to stand up and say to you I TOLD U SO

Proper punctuation would do you a world of good. I stopped reading after attempting the first line. If you don't care enough to properly relay your argument then I don't care enough to read it.

You're stating an opinion as fact.    And they *don't* have to be exactly the same to be competition anyway (what we're discussing)  But I do find it funny that NOW you've decided to divide the RPG genre up into specific sub categories.... when just a page ago you were lumping everything together and  calling the entire genre stale.

You know what?  I'm overthinking this.  You're  not  even debating.  You're just trolling

Yes RPG's have been stale and i didn't divide them into subcatorgies the industry did that themselves
DAO: Traditional RPG
DA2, Witcher 1, Witcher 2 and Fallout 3 are all Action RPG's but if you wanted to be real finickity Fallout 3 could also be called a FPS

If we check wikipedia, buddy, we will discover that your Monkey Island isn't an RPG, contrary to your rabid, repeated claims that it is.

But I'm game.  Would you like us to establish wikipedia as the  Authority on matters in this discussion?

Oh, no.    You're not trolling at all here.

On the contrary.  This is precisely the type of stuff that the Mods and devs encourage on these forums...  right?

Let's back off from the insults people.

Theres really no need for it.

Some people like DAO, some people like DA2, and some of us like both.

Opinion is Opinion is not Fact.

The fact of the matter DA2 has more in common with DAO than people would like to admit; and if the game had had say another 6 months to a year of development time you can GUARANTEE that there would be a hell of a lot less moaning about how DA2 is a complete 180 from DAO. It completely is not.

What really causes DA2 to stand out from DAO is the fact that DA2 is blatantly unfinished and DAO was finished. Thats it.

I defy each and every one of you to say that you would have hated DA2 if it had had another years development to allow for it to be finished and properly QA'ed. And honestly if you insist you would, then id call you a liar.
And the people who "hate" DAO and "love" DA2? Honestly I reckon they are liars too because honestly many of the things they "hated" in DAO are present in DA2 (sometimes in a bastardised form but present nonetheless).

Haterz Gonna Hate as you Americans say.
