As for us guessing, I partly agree. However, you have to be good at character analysis. (you the thing you probably hated doing in school when writing an analysis for a text). However, remember what Isabella tells you during your conversations about her -ahem- sex-life, she seems 'bad', but is actually 'good'.
You have to see through all her -ahem- facade - and see that she really is looking for someone who trusts her. It's easy to mistake her sexual inuendos and free sex attitude as the way she really is. Looking behind that facade, and under the surface, you'll discover that she's longing for a relationsships. And yes, she has has - dare I say it - casual sex, but this is because she really likes sex. Merrill on the other hand, if you listen to some of the banter between her and Isabella, or her and Anders or Variic, she's just a sweet innocent kid that wants to be like Isabella....And Isabella doesn't want Merrill to be like her...

I didn't romance Isabella, but I did feel betrayed (both as Hawke as as myself) when she just went up and left after the whole Arishok incident. However, doing some research into this, I did find out that she is supposed to be coming back with a certain item - if Hawke and her is in a romance together. I have no idea if Isabella comes back if or when she's in friend with benefits relationships.
If you have 50 friendship or rivalry points and have done her Questioning Beliefs quest in Act 2, BEFORE you start "To catch a Thief" she will always come back, no matter if you are in a relationshp, just had fun with her or are just friends.

I know, but I think I only had 25 friendship points because I didn't quite understood the friendship/rivalry system. It didn't help that I'm colourblind so that I had a hard time telling where the one ended and the other one began.
But as it is, it was a pivotal moment in the game, and it made me feel - sadness and sorrow. So kudos to the writers....

Not to mention gender-blindness. I'm all for s/s romance if done correctly...like everything else that gets dev time. But the "gender-blindness" or the romances really felt bleh.
The best parts of the Morrigan romance was the back and forth teasing. Her trying to emasculate a male Warden for bringing up love and of course the stamina/taint conversation after "witch gone wild". It made the romances more personal.
Other than a few he's and she's thrown around in party banter the romance (I only romanced Isabela with M Hawke so I'm speaking from that perspective) felt like a one-size fits all. I hope they beef up the dialogue in DLC/Expansions so that I know that Isabela is speaking to a male Hawke and not a "one-size fits all" lover.
It is because you romanced Isabela. She doesn't see gender, just a person who could please her. She is very open about liking men and woman. With other romances, gender is obvious. I went for Fenris and I've gotten dialogue that made him say "you're a woman herp".

Well Isabela is bisexual, so she doesn't really care, you will approach either sex the same way. Everyone else, well that's the pitfall of making everyone an option for anyone, I mean they do try, like Merrill for example, will say something different to a Fem Hawke vs a male. But overall, its going to be pretty generalized, so that they don't define sexual orientation. I don't really see that getting any better, if this is the route their going to stick to.naledgeborn wrote...

But in the end game she and Hawke don't kiss and in the epilogue slide she doesn't stay with Hawke. I made the same mistake the OP did and was annoyed at the end when I didn't get that, I ended up repeating that particular Hawke from Halfway through Act 2.
I just checked my game to be sure, but while I didn't get the endgame kiss Isabela did stay with my Hawke. So we must have done something different if she didn't stay with yours (I played that game after the most recent patch was developed. It was also a male!Hawke, but don't know if that makes a difference).

She sleeps with anything that moves. How could you have trouble with that?
That's really not true and unfair.
In my games she only goes after lanky elves. (Plus Hawke)

Well yes, I know she's bi. I might be generalizing here but I'm assuming a bisexual woman would approach a relationship with a man different than a relationship with another woman. Afterall men and women are two different genders. If they're going to put this in a game I'd expect it to be implemented "correctly?" is the word I guess.
To everyone how wants the Isabela full romance:
You have to pick the "what about love?" line after sex. You can be Diplo/Humor/Aggro as much as you want, but not picking this line is the absolutle dealbreaker. Also you can't have anyone move in. You'll know you did the romance right if you kiss her in the hangedman in "Act III Questioning Beliefs".

... The disappointing part for the FwB romance is that Act 3 was no different for my guy in a relationship than it was for my latest guy who turned down sex altogether and stayed on good friends terms thereafter. Okay, so both of them fought the Arishok to save Isabella but it would have been nice to get some recognition of the FwB romantic attachment and even give him the chance to say that actually he acted stupid before and in fact really loves her, but that is not an option, it was left back in the bedroom in Act 2. I just seems another case where Hawke becomes less proactive and more under the control of everyone else in Act 3.
This. Totally.

Speaking as someone who has a lot of dealing with bisexual woman (and I suppose may be qualified as one, if you want labels)... not always. It really depends. Personally, I myself am basically gender-blind, and approach romance with a guy and a gal exactly the same way... I can't really think of anything that would be different in general romance. Um, I don't like kissing people with beards, and woman don't usally get them, so if the guy I was dating decided to grow out facial hair (obviously, I wouldn't be dating one that had it already), we'd talk about it and I guess that talk wouldn't come up with a gal? But no, I'd approach a guy and a gal the exact same way, and probably say the same sort of things to do them. Some bisexual gals are of course different: Merill, for instance, more acknowledges that then Isabella. But either way works.
(I think Fenris actually does seem to acknowledge the gender deal a bit more then Anders does. Anders has events that have different play outs if your girl or guy, but he himself seems to not really treat you any differently (save for the 'forced' dialog, I suppose). Fenris brings it up more.)
