Heh, you basically summed up my first week with the game. I was originally expecting combat to be similar to the Jedi Knight series, so I was rather unhappy at first. But KotOR (and subsequently Morrowind) ended up being my introductions into the wide world of RPGs and both remain my favorites to this day.

Mass Effect. Then Kotor 1 and 2. Have also played DA 1 and 2, and ME2. I even tried to play BG1 and 2 on the pc, but that was a bit too "retro". It would obviously have been totally different if I had played those games when they were first released.

My introduction to RPGs was with the original Fallout, but my first BioWare game was Baldur's Gate 2 and enjoyed it immensely. I later bought Baldur's Gate 1 and maybe the other games had spoiled me, but I came away incredibly underwhelmed by it.

I must be one of the few who likes Baldur's Gate 2 but feels the opposite about Baldur's Gate 1.

Baldur's Gate was my 1st Bioware game. After playing Baldur's Gate 2, I did look back and feel the same way.

Not sure if I posted in this thread before or not. First Bioware game was KotOR. It remains my favorite Bioware game. My first RPG ever was probably Final Fantasy 2 (4 in Japan) for the SNES.
