The trap was a doodle on normal and veteran and on those difficulties I never died on the collector ship mission once in 3 playthroughs (2 on pc and 1 on PS3)

Using stasis sounds really good but I can't select it on advanced training as it isn't on the list( I have finished the LotSB twice on the pc but for some reason Liara's power isn't listed. I don't recall seeing it during the Lazarus project either when I created my Shepard. I've heard that this is a bug on the pc version of the game so for me, stasis is a no go

Its a known bug on PC, not showing up in Lazarus station. They say you can select it after you get to the normandy. Also, on xbox you have to scroll down - its not in alphabetical order.

The biggest problem I have is keeping my squadmates alive. It is possible to do it yourself though. You just need to not get too comfortable in one spot, and readjust when the new badguys show up on the new platforms. I have tried focusing down the scions first or just dodging them and saving for the end. It's probably easier to save them for after the collectors since the collectors advance on you somewhat rapidly on higher difficulties. One thing that is nice about the platform battles is if you have a class or a squadmate with something like throw or concussive shot and you line it up you can just knock the collectors off the platforms (after defenses are down of course).
And your trick against Harbi is right on. Or if you have Kasumi with flashbang you can "neutralize Cmdr Harbinger" real quick.

The main trick I have for keeping my squad alive is staying very close to the Collectors, even when sniping. It seems like a little thing, but the difference between my first runs and my runs now is quite massive. Then I would pretty much spam medigel to keep my squad alive and eventually give up and finish it alone. Playing more aggressively and getting close to the enemy, I can do it without medigel.
As for the scions, I always take out the one on the moving platform first and leave the other for last. The moving one is hard to predict while fighting, but the other one is actually way behind lots of cover if you approach from the right angle and so it's actually kind of harmless.

I try not to use the medigel if I don't think I need to so I can get a bonus $100 each time I run into a first aid kit.

I didn't have any problem what so ever at that place for some reason, I just flew trough the ship killing every single collector and husk (died only once).
When I then came back for my 2th visit with my vanguard on insanity, I died maybe 40 times before i finally completed the platforms (another 3-4 deaths dealing with the praetorian.

Vanguard is probably the worst class for the collector platforms for the sole purpose that the unique class skill is rendered virtually useless by the layout of the platforms. Probably 90% of the time the charge is interrupted by hitting a wall well before the collector that you're targeting. It can get quite aggravating.

Well I did the collector ship mission 3 times today with my hardcore soldier - once for each bonus weapon! I first grabbed the Claymore and finished the mission. I don't know if I've got a lot better at it or whether the soldier is just tougher, but the trap was a total cakewalk and I didn't die once) I did get killed once later in the mission by a collector that sneaked round behind me but hey, I don't often fall foul of that one. Then I decided to replay the level again and grab the Revenant. This time I didn't die at all but I wasn't sure about the new weapon as it didn't seem that powerful and the geth pulse rifle I usually use is far more accurate and sounds better IMO. So next up I played it again and ths time I grabbed the Widow and decided I preferred the Viper! Babsically I just think these elite weapons are a bit rubbish! But hey, I'm a lot better at the collector ship mission than I was on my last playthrough
) Now I need to choose which weapon to go on with and I still haven't really decided!!
The claymore soldier is the best soldier.

I will most likely run with the Claymore because having it will make me feel guilty if I don't use it! I love your video mi-chan and you're an amazing player) I'm a long way from being able to play like you do but I am getting better at this game and am having no problems now coping with hardcore. My next playthrough is going to be insanity but I'm not sure what class to go through it with though. It may be the soldier again because it has all of the weapons, adrenaline rush and tons of health so I'll have a better chance of getting to grips with the higher difficulty.
I feel that all the classes are pretty easy on Insanity, as long as you focus on their strengths. Except the sentinel, he's way too strong.

I loved the sentinel although I only played it on veteran. The assault armor was pretty cool and I did a bit of tanking around with him although I not as much as I could have. To be honest I've loved all 4 of my sheps so far - a tentative vanguard who was a bit scared of charging but was a little tinker for unleashing his shockwave (well, it was my first proper playthrough and I was rubbish!), a fry-em and freeze-em sentinel who kicked lots of butts with the Viper, an invisinble most of the time infiltrator who had more firepower (assault rifle training) than the empire's deathstar, and now a cool soldier kitted out in bright pink but is anything but soft! I've gradually gotten better with each playthrough and now I find hardcore pretty comfortable so next up I'm gonna try insanity. That'll be at Christmas when I'll be on holiday from work for two weeks and I'll have more time to play. I'm kind of leaning toward the "tank" classes for survivability on my first insanity run. So that means the soldier or the sentinel and then I'll try a more squishy class for my second run.

I just saw this note. You must have had some bad luck with the platforms on your run(s). Actually there is a little problem with the platforms, ( example at 0:48 of this video ), but if you avoid being docked in cover, or having cover directly in front of you or behind you, you can charge fine. There are lots of videos doing ok, but here is one I did the day after the earlier video showing the bug --> here. I am far from a great player, btw, but I do have these examples to share.

I don't like dying and that's my problem! If I die loads of times during a mission then I go to bed feeling like a total loser and then beat myself up about it all day the next day!( Still, it's nice to know that you get splatted as well although watching your videos I can hardly imagine how you could let the mooks get you.

If you don't like dying then I'd suggest you play your best class, whatever it is. On Insanity you will die a lot, btw, but insanity actually makes the game quite interesting. Look forward to what you come up with
