Hmm, interesting. It seems that people always want more of things that are already there, like last month planescape theme for example. Hardly anybody or any team made as many new creatures as Codi and most of the creatures they made are 'planescape monsters'.
Most of the other creatures you can find at the vault are either animals or some kind of demon. Now this month there are already 7 votes for more demons
I hope more people will vote for the monsters from asian mythology. I don't think you can find a single one of those at the vault.

I voted for monsters from asian mythology last month (I really *do* have to reconstruct metallic dragons in line with eastern myth...It bugs me sumpin fierce!).

Voted for new humanoids this month (since I'm totally selfish and plan to be working on my Child races...;-).

<shrugs> I'm a little <just a tad> fickle.

If someone would change it from "monsters from asian mythology" to "asian mythology" I'd be tempted to give it a vote. As it is it looks very proscriptive instead of evocative. I think that the challenge themes should be inspiring for the artist - leaving room for artistic license. The primary goal should be to inspire the artists rather than produce content for the community.

That said I think the "demons" theme could be livened up. There is no need to stick with the same old D20 demons. And if your interest is Asian mythology, you've got many "demons" to pick from. Even though Oni are often depicted as ogre mages in D20 - I don't think there is any reason why you'd have to stick with that straight jacket.

I've often wondered about the monster in Lafcadio Hearn's short story "The Boy Who Drew Cats". I also liked Neil Gaiman's "Dream Hunters". Both of these are western interpretations of Japanese folk tales which might be easier for another outsider/westerner to tap into and understand.

Anyway... enough rambling. I voted for Winter Stuff.

I voted for animals because I want some decent models for African animals like giraffes, rhinos, elephants and hippos. The CEP models of those animals are terrible.

*grabs calendar*  Huh.  You are totally right.  I even have a note scribbled in on the 30th that it is the poll deadline.  I'll fix the various posts/polls later today.  Thanks. =)

Only the person that suggested the theme can change it quite THAT much for the poll options.  In this case the person is Olivier Leroux.  Feel free to poke him, lots.   Plus a few extra for me.  *grins*  Regardless, it can't be changed in the current poll.
