Trapped in the Fade; playing with less than 4 people in your party

In my current game I am playing with the intent of driving away as many of my party members as possible (just to see how the game plays out).  So far I have told Leliana to bug off, barely acknowledged's Sten's existence as I walked past his cage, and killed Wynne.  At the moment then, I have just Morrigan and Alistair with me.

Now I am in the Fade and have killed all of the protective demons surrounding the sloth demon.  The next step was to free my companions, which I have just done.  However, on the grid/map of the Fade I am still unable to transport my group to the center for the final fight.  It looks like it is still requiring that I free my one other companion still in the Fade in the other "nightmare", even though I have nobody trapped in there.  It will not let me click into that node either.  I am completely trapped.  Talking to Niall did nothing; I was hoping that maybe he would temporarily join my group to help get out, but nope.

Does anyone know how I can get out of here?

I was wondering if there would be any problems in playing the game with less than 4 people in the party.  There is also the quest for the Urn of Sacred Ashes (which I have not gotten to yet on this playthrough), in which you must construct a bridge that seems to require all 4 members to be present.  I am not sure what would happen there if you went in with less.  Others here have mentioned trying to play solo through the game though.  Are some of these quests just literally impossible with less than 4 people?  Am I just screwed on this game?

Thanks,

Brian

My plan was to kill Zevran when I first encountered him. I wonder if it is possible to steer Oghren away somehow. I may not get to find out in this game though. :(

No. Its actually even possible to complete this section of the game with only one character, as the game has a solution in order to be able to solve the puzzle (which i think you were referring to).

I wouldn't mind hearing what this solution is.

From what I've heard, the game generates wraiths for you to control, or something.

Right. The game generates wraiths during that section.

With regards to the OP's question, I've done "The Fade" minus a couple of party members and, as you've mentioned, it creates a path to "A Nightmare" but you cannot access it by clicking upon it. This does not matter. I progressed through The Fade without issue. If you do not have access to the Inner Sanctum, then you've missed a guardian.

Question did you kill 4 boss demons or 5? The fifth one is through the Spirit Door near Niall.
