What gets no love these days?

GPS Vanguard! Charging Adept FTW!

Or you could mod to give your Engineer the Widow. You know, play as Legion. I had a lot of fun with that too.

Engineer - It's the least played class.

Go Engineer, it's the most underrated class now, despite having such a high level of control over every battle.

If you do, pick the slide rule as your bonus power.

Whats a GPS Vanguard? Using the Geth Shotgun? I have only seen one video of that one anywhere. But I'm glad to hear that you got the itch to play again. ;) I think you invented charging with the avalanche.

Why not start two games? Both look interesting.

Gotta be the engineer. Definitely worth at least 1 playthrough for combat drone alone. Setting people on fire, freezing them then shattering them into lots of pieces is also quite good fun :-)

I am a Vanguard fan, played it with and without shotgun and played it many times over. So if I was to be bias I'd say Vanguard. But if you want to play least loved, then like others say Engineer. It's CC city! And it's still fun.

I love my Vanguard so you should use it. I use the GPS over the Claymore.

If you're going for something different, go for Engineer. That and Sentinel are the only ones I haven't played for ME2. Personally, I'd try a Vanguard with Energy Drain for a bonus power, that works beautifully for me. An Insanity run using that build works great, but playing a Vanguard on Insanity whatsoever takes guts...

The Engineer can be played like an "educated" Vanguard ;) I've send mine to Tuchanka University to study Krogan Shotgun Technology.

I always thought engineers were vastly underrated. My first class played on insanity. I thought it would make it extra difficult, but now I think it actually did quite the opposite.

That's a really fun video, I was going to do my second Engineer run soon and was undecided on what weapon to get. I do have to ask, if you have Legion in Thane's loyalty mission, did you sacrifice your crew to the gods? D:

Thanks!

Eddy "Screw the Crew" Shepard recruited Legion early on to give the Quarians a heart-attack on Tali's missions. The extra drone and AI Hacking are nice too.

Just watched this for the first time.  Holy Cats!  You must be looking forward to me3 when you can get the claymore without modding.  That was a good decision they made, imo.  You used an array of strategies all in that one video.  I saw neural shock, ai hacking, and did you use dominate on the Jack Loyality, or did all three of the krogran attack the one drone?  It was excellent all around, you know, except for getting the crew killed part.

Haha, you hadn't seen that vid yet?

I created a topic about AI Hacking a while ago; it has lots of funny (and effective) videos: AI Hacking Hilarity ;)

Hacking YIMRs to clear levels for you, have them fight among themselves, and Gladiatorial Geth ;)

I use two builds for my Engineer. One for organics and one for synthetics (basically only the Geth missions). With the former I use Neural Shock and with the latter Energy Drain bonus power (I never use Overload except to detonate pyros). Krogan can't be hacked so I used Morinth's Dominate to mess around.

Only one enemy is affected by Combat Drones, but a Hacked or Dominated target will draw all aggro when they are closer to the other enemies than you (Shep). The Dantius Towers part shows how hacking one LOKI will make all other enemies turn around to fight it, completely ignoring Shepard and his/her pals - you can literally kill at will ;)

I loved playing my Scimitar Engineer way back when as my 2nd ever insanity playthrough.  It was right after my first insanity Vanguard run, and a great primer that was for ways of close quarters shotgunning.  Definitely a challenge, but once mastered there nothing the class can't handle.  In fact going back and playing insanity Vanguards after now feels too easy.  Vanguard's recharge their shields to full with every class power activation, Engineers have no such resiliency.

My favorite balanced Engineer build has always been:
Area Overload / Incineration Blast / Attack Drone / 2 Cryo Blast / 3 AI Hacking / Demolisher / 1 Neural Shock

Everyone one of those abilities has its use and each one is optimized for the needed bang for the buck.

Now of course I tried even more specialized variations, such as
anti-geth
1 Overload / Explosive Drone / Full Cryo Blast / Improved Hacking / Demolisher / Area Drain
anti-organic
Area Overload / Incineration Blast / Attack Drone / 1 Cryo Blast / Demolisher / Neural Shockwave

but the first balanced build i listed really did give me everything I needed on its own.

By the way, the Shotgun Engineer did get a lot of video love from other forumites in this thread.  Of course more videos are always welcome around here

I like the gps on my engineer and used it primarily to strip shields but its also great for shattering frozen statues. Here's my build

Heavy Incinerate
Cryoblast 3
Overload 6
Explosive Drone
AI Hacking 1
Demolisher or Mechanic (haven't settled on this yet)
Tungsten Ammo
