Believe it or not, North Korea actually has the 4th largest army in the world, and because of the cultural and media brainwashing from the birth, they are fanatical and almost religious in their relationship to their country and it's tyrannical leader(to them he's basically next from God). Plus they have nukes. This makes them very dangerous.

I don't know how large army and fleets batarians have, but it is sure to be more than just a couple of slaver and pirate groups that wage proxy war and raids. And they have planet killing weapons for sure, since they are not restricted by any conventions.

No kidding I know enough about North Korea to know that they have a large military but compare it with a nation like ours we would be able to take their military out with superior tech, weaponry, equipment and training. It will just be more difficult than Iraq.

Might be much more difficult, you might have even civilians trained to kill any us soldiers there if you invaded, much like the old japanese empire did, they are that fanatical. Women and children, even old people would try to kill your soldiers with shovels, pitchforks, anything they can get their hands to. It would be brutal.

I wasn't thinking of an invasion more of destroy their military to the point where they can't retaliate and let South Korea handle the occupation.

Or just destroy the little food sources they have and starve their army out...we do have a very good navy you know,I hear The US Navy is among the best....

Their army is already facing food problems. If you do that then you would be facing a humanitarian crisis since millions of North Korean civillians will be starving even moreso then they have been. At that point they will use their military and fight to the death. Starving them out wouldn't be the best thing to do politically. South Koreans wouldn't necessarily agree with that course of action.

Vaulting Frog you are using the same argument that the side supporting the point that the Batarians have military. You are essentially saying your own point is speculation:P

I believe I actually stated as such in my post. I have no qualms about admiting my views are purely speculation though it seems others in this thread have such an issue. I just wanted to make that abundantly clear. Oh and it is not just the "pro Batarian" side that is speculating. Both sides are as neither side as any creditable emperical evidence to support their claims.

The pro Batarian side is using reasonable guesses and estimates of the likelihood of Batarians actually having a conventional military force which hasn't been disproven at all and multiple examples from the game have been used. It would be stupid to say they don't have a conventional military. There is no info that states the Batarians have X amount of ships. We have to make a reasonable assumptions on the matter.

You really have no idea what North Korea is like, do you?

The average North Korean citizen wants to reunite with South Korea.

You are correct but they would likely want it under a North Korean government not a South Korean one. That's why I would prefer the South Koreans actually invade and we provide support such air strikes, some ground forces like tanks US troops and Naval units. The South Koreans will stay in the country while the US leaves. We would be more likely to be resisted than the South Koreans.

Because nearly every single person that makes it out of NK and all their famailies want to reunite,it isn't like we haven't gotten cameras past their borders, it is a well known fact they want to reunite.

And after Kim Jong-Il dies the country may reunite, only so long people can starve to death while their other half is one of the most prosperous countries in the world.

The problem with invasion is that Seoul is literally so close to North Korea they could easily nuke it without there being any time to stop that from happening.

Anyways this is very off-topic.

And? The amount of US forces in the region makes any first strike North Korea has done pointless. It will be devastating but it will be all they have. It would basically be an all or nothing strike.

So you're willing to allow Seoul to be blown up to reunify the country? 10 million people live there...are you serious?

All I can say is thank God you aren't a military leader.

WTF? Did I ever say this was my plan to reunify the country?

I'm talking about how a war will likely happen North Korea will strike first the US may catch on and bomb nuclear missile sites or they may not. The First strike will be devastating but then the US and South Korean forces will retaliate and when.

Reasonable they may be it is still an assumption, IE speculation. It is no better than the other side of the argument though conventional wisdom would lean in your favor. We know they have a standing military force or at least had one at one time, beyond that we just have no idea one way or the other.

I am making a point of this because neither side can prove they are right as there is no data to support either claim. It is more or less proving that an opinion is wrong. It just does not happen as opinions are personal perspectives. It is a remark on the futility of this argument that seems to be perpetuated by inflexable mindes on each side.

Are you going to ignore the rest of the post? It would be pointless since they lose the war by even attempting it. Maybe their would be to show that they aren't afraid to slaughter their own brother's and sisters but they will lose the war.

Edit: Answer me. How did I imply my plan was a way to unify the country? It isn't my plan nor a plan at all. This is basically a what if scenario. Don't read more into it than what it is.
