We were using it as a comparison to the batarians.

"You are correct but they would likely want it under a North Korean
government not a South Korean one. That's why I would prefer the South
Koreans actually invade and we provide support such air strikes, some
ground forces like tanks US troops and Naval units.
The South Koreans
will stay in the country while the US leaves. We would be more likely to
be resisted than the South Koreans."

The conversation started from that.

EDIT: But yes this is very off-topic, as I said. If you want to continue this discussion PM me.

That still makes little sense in context with your accusation but oh well. Off to PM then.

Believe it or not, North Korea actually has the 4th largest army in the world, and because of the cultural and media brainwashing from the birth, they are fanatical and almost religious in their relationship to their country and it's tyrannical leader(to them he's basically next from God). Plus they have nukes. This makes them very dangerous.

I don't know how large army and fleets batarians have, but it is sure to be more than just a couple of slaver and pirate groups that wage proxy war and raids. And they have planet killing weapons for sure, since they are not restricted by any conventions.

No kidding I know enough about North Korea to know that they have a large military but compare it with a nation like ours we would be able to take their military out with superior tech, weaponry, equipment and training. It will just be more difficult than Iraq.

Might be much more difficult, you might have even civilians trained to kill any us soldiers there if you invaded, much like the old japanese empire did, they are that fanatical. Women and children, even old people would try to kill your soldiers with shovels, pitchforks, anything they can get their hands to. It would be brutal.

You really have no idea what North Korea is like, do you?

The average North Korean citizen wants to reunite with South Korea.

I know about the border leapers, those people are really lucky. There are some people in N korea that want to desperately leave, usually on the poor countryside. Its not easy tough, and their society pretty much brainwashes children from birth to respect the "beloved" leader and the nation. Critisizing the nation and leader is not allowed and usually it doesnt even happen cause they think the leader is very loving and benevolent and makes no mistakes. it's a cult basically. I have watched the documents.

Hehe, this applies to every imaginary line ... err I mean country. With different degrees, of course.

Why has this turned into a discussion about North Korea? Anyways, Vaulting Frog is a fool. Of course all our talk about the Batarians is speculation.

That's why I'd like to see them give some evidence one way or another about them. They're really enigmatic. They could have a huge military and simply not want to use it or a weak military and not want to get into a fight with humanity.

I find this amusing. People who hate the Batarians are using Balak as an example (or more accurately his quotes) and the people who are "defending" the Batarians (though more or less just being realistic) dont have a whole lot to back up their argument (though neither side does in actuality).

Let me start with Balak. He is a terrorist correct? Have none of you even considered that it might just be the arrogant posturing of a self proclaimed warlord as we have seen in many instances in ME? Does it not occur to you that his opinion of the Batarian people and their military could be even slightly skewed by his ego in thinking that "they need me to do this..."? I am suprised that anybody is taking those comments seriously.

Fact of the matter is the only creditable evidence is the codex entries of the single dreadnought, the arms manufacture and the mention of their commando/military training styles. That being said, they are not bound to Council rules and could have substantially more than what is currently known. Yes it is pure speculation however it is not impossible.

More to the point the use of "pirates and terrorists" to attack other species is brilliant. It allows them not only to attack other species with out fear of reprisal but keeps their own numbers hidden and prevents casualties to their forces. Basically they are using those "pirates and terrorists" as expendable troops much like slaves being sent before the actual army.

Personally I find that you people are so biased that nobody can be right except for you. But that is typical over the internet. In all I see nothing but pure speculation on both sides of the argument and only one fact being presented (the codex entries). I would say you all should be ashamed at yourselves but I know that will never happen so I will simply bid you good hunting on your fruitless quests to prove your point.

All the evidence you present has already been established and is, therefore, useless. Of course this is speculation; that's what the thread is for, exchanging uncommon ideas about the game. You beat down others for speculating, but present your own speculations to fuel the fire. Then you beat down other's opinions by saying that arguing is too "biased". Why would you bid anything if you know nothing is going to change, good sir?

On the other hand, why is everyone discussing South Korea?...

If a nation has a huge military, and hates another nation for percieved wrongs, why would they hold back? The fact that there are so many Batarian mercs and slavers and terrorists suggests that the Batarians as a race aren't a bunch of goody two shoes. I mean, how many Hanar mercenaries have you seen floating around?

I'm not saying all Batarians are evil or terrorists or anything like that. I'm saying based off what we know, it seems more likely to me that the Batarians simply lack a powerful enough military to rival the Alliance or Council races. This is just my opinion though.

The Batarians you run into in game seem to think that humanity is the one pushing them around implying that they perceive humans as the stronger bullying race.

They have been space faring longer but I always assumed that we had more advanced tech or at the very least similar level because of the intact prothean ships and facility we found on Mars.

In the SB lair you can try to sell weapons to different Batarian factions on their own home world...

It doesnt seem that they like each other very much either.... They are the Middle-East of space....

Heard that analogy on the forums somewhere else....

I think the Batarians are actually as dangerous as the reapers. Think for a second, they aren't very popular about the galaxy, and they always seem to have militia/weapons. They could pull a sneak attack/surprise on Shep in ME3...

So by that logic the Quarians are africans, Humanity is America, Turians are Russia, Drell are Mexicans, the salarians are Japan and the Asari are Canada.

Oh yes.

One on side you have the Batarians, who were spanked by the Alliance in the Attican Traverse, have no allies, and have already suffered huge losses from the Reapers going through their space (see Cannibal).

On the other hand you have the Reapers, who have been wiping out entire galactic empires for millions of years, and only two have been known to have been destroyed out of thousands.

Who's more dangerous?

It's a tie!

If you were a slave being forced to work on a batarian ship would you not be doing whatever you could get away with to undermine their operation?
Plus it's not inconceivable that they need to spend a good portion of the time putting down slave revolts, and once they put them down there's a rather large gap in the workforce they need to spend time filling again. Those guys rely too much on slavery.
Ever been to a McDonald's where all the staff have given up and just don't care?

Humans are known (in game) to be by far the fastest progressing race. We have always had problems with population and land, something only space exploration can provide. If the Batarians had a smaller population count, they would have no need to progress and probably remain at that tech level for the next 2000 years. Just like Mordin said. No problem, no progress. Batarians didn't have any need to progress by 200 BCE, most likely.

I only skimmed the OP so if you meant in the literal sense... uh... humans are stronger then Turians/Asari/Salarians by a decent margin for comparison. Ape muscle FTW.
