Hi everyone,
I have just moved to Japan and, before heading over here, purchased MASS EFFECT 2 from England. I want to buy the extra mission packs (especially ARRIVAL) but I am not sure if it will be ok - as I have a UK version of the game (works fine in my Japanese xbox 360), will the DLC work ok if it is bought from the Japanese xbox marketplace?
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!
Chris

Additionally, I tried contacting EA customer support but they were absolutely useless unfortunately.

The sort of knowledge you require is perhaps a bit too specific; that is to say that very few gamers here would have the experience of moving and purchasing dlc. Not to say there haven't been, just that perhaps those that have rarely (if ever) post here regarding such issues.
What I do know from a fairly recent(ish) thread concerning Japanese dlc is that they aren't up to speed with the west (though I confess to not know what has or has not been released). That limits your purchasing options. When they'll be available no-one here seems to know.
As for the compatibility...no idea. Though I would imagine it might depend on the languages available. If anyone can confirm a non-English version working with an English game, then that might provide some (but not definitive) answers.

Thanks for the reply - I remembered that I had the "Cerberus network" code which would allow free downloads of certain things when you initially register the game.... unfortunately they wouldn't work (download errors) and I had to create a silver UK account to download them. I can now use them within ME2 and my Japanese account though which is bizarre. Speaking of bizarre... I was able to register the cerberus network (and log in) with both accounts so I guess it was not 'single use' after all!
I guess I will have to ask my parents back home to buy a points card and register some MS Points on the fake UK account that I have to buy stuff - seems like an unneccessary amount of effort when all I want to do is legitamately give them money haha!
(PS: I had no such problem with ME1 so I am going to assume this is EA being dicks and region locking things as opposed to Bioware being behind it)

On the Cerberus Network code I would imagine that it would have been possible to download the associated dlc if you registered your Japanese Gamertag with your EA account, and then set it as the default Persona. (Just speculation on my part mind you. And utterly useless speculation now at that.)
If you have a UK Gamertag, can you use that to access the UK XBox Live network to obtain dlcs? (I know from a friend that he is able to purchase foreign dlcs using a foreign account for his PS3.) It's just that if you can it should be possible to purchase things there directly (although it has to be stated that buying Microsoft points from certain retailers is cheaper than directly).

Yep, that worked! Asked my parents back home to buy an MS points card and used them for UK account. Downloaded them to the xbox through that and they also work on the new Japanese account I set up thankfully!
It's an easy get-around but at least it worked!
Thanks for your help :-)
