Gonna try to beat the journey's game on hard mode, does anyone have any advice to make it easier or something like that, or can someone confirm the whole "adjust difficulty before the last fight" thing?

I have completed the game on hard mode. It says in the description for the achievement that you must start and end the game on hard mode, so I would assume that there is a function which verifies that you did just that.
I found the most important tactic was to make liberal use of the imprisonment spell in the spirit line, and keep dangerous mobs (such as ogres) locked down constantly until I was ready to deal with them. I had my mage ONLY casting this spell and heals, never any dps spells. I used a warrior and focused on tanking talents only.

I have boycotted the game after beating it 4 times before they changed the requirements for the unlocks, After I was not credited with 2 of the 3 unlocks and had multiple data loss events, I gave up and told everyone I remotely liked to never play that bugged p.o.s.

They fixed the save system it appears.
For hard difficulty I used a mage with the other mage and bard. Both mages used Mind Blast for the stun effect and the bard I set up for archery/2h weapons. Against ogres I'd use the bard and use the disorient spell to confuse the ogre as I killed everything else. The mages stuns basically cream everything - just bring tons of mana and stamina pots. They're really, really cheap.

Forgive my ignorance, but was an achievement added for completing the game on hard mode? When I unlocked everything a week or so ago, there were only five achievements and three unlocks, and I did all of them. However, I played through on normal the first time, then twice on easy just to grind out the remaining achievements.
I also just logged in to check the achievements and did not notice any new ones, however, the game has been updated quite a bit. When I was playing it was on something like v1.28 and now it is on v1.39.

They took out the unlock for doing surveys and replaced it with the hard mode achievement.

Get the bard as soon as you can. Take distract and distract the ogre and you're good to go. In the ogre + 2 genlock alphas fight you can distract the ogre + 1 alpha while you kill off the other. This way you'll only have to deal with 1 mob at a time.

I was wondering where did the surveys go to. I would like the surveys to come back, it's so close to the release date, I may not have game to complete the game on Hard mode,

Where is the bard located?
I am at the ogre + 2 genlock alphas fight and I am getting creamed all the time. It is very annoying when all the enemies focus on one character and it gets killed in one round.

The bard is in the town, near the dwarf that gives you the quest to collect 4 genlock hearts.

Also is it correct that the spellcasters seem to do a lot less damage than the melee chars? My warrior is hitting for a lot more than my casters are when they use their direct damage spells. Is this by design, or am I forgetting something with my casters?
I like to play a nuking class, but if the damage of their spells is sub par to that of the melee, then I might need to focus them more on crowd control and healing instead.

Yes, this is true, and I think it is for game balance reasons as it makes sense to me.
Mages have the advantage of range, which allows them to avoid some damage as well as get in an extra hit or two before melee characters can reach their targets. Also, they can heal and, most importantly, stun, making them pretty potent.
All melee characters can do is soak damage and trade blows.
It doesn't help that melee weapons actually hugely affect damage, while mage weapons seem to be very subtle and mostly affect stats and skills.
One thing I would like to see tweaked are the damage spells, though. They seem to be a bit too weak given the mana requirements. Some of my fighters would regularly hit for 60+ damage, and these spells would not even approach that.

currently doing it on hard mode without to much troubles
running as warrior, with allistar wynne and the bard
just save a lot, the game has a way of lulling you into security with a few easy fights followed by a ambush that kills you before you know it
