Okay, so I was rightfully aftraid to ask...

Then again, the things this board has already forced me to see... a Tali sexdoll, Femshep/Wrex art, Pregshep/Garrus art... Even though the latter two are more amusing than really scary.

Her facial features are too childlike and look nothing Liara, and her body has been overly sexualized. Liara's breasts were not anywhere near that ridiculously big in game.

The above statement is fair enough as a subjective opinion.

That being said, it is an Anime version of the character. I mean isn't that pretty much par the course for Anime? I wouldn't have expected anything different. Pre-teen facial features and ridiculously large breasts are pretty much standard fare fantasy for the average Japanese male geek. And that is the key market that Anime is geared for.

Anime is just a random association people have assumed it was made for/as because of nationality of creator and their own preconceptions [ArtFX do western and eastern style products, the style of figurine collection is simply named beautiful girl even says on image shown]. West does exact same thing. Go google Betty Boop. If want sexualised google Jessica Rabbit. If want a over the top fascination with breasts look no further than your own doorstop aka nation. How about bratz, Barbie, Cindy even other less well known ones. Not all anime has large breasts, not all anime has baby faces, not all people who like anime are pedos or horny old men/little boys.

I gave you statistics which is as close as can do, which shows your wrong. Crime, rape, pedophilia and much more is higher in the USA per capita than Japan. Even if were to jump to this assumption that Japan has more pornographic material which I believe is also false, it would still just show they have more maturity regarding how to handle it than USA does given the crime statistics which would imply Americans have less self control over their urges hence the higher crime rate and number of sexual assualts and rape cases per capita.

Now you brought up the subject, I just showed you that your wrong before. Also it's more of the generalisations and racial/cultural crap that has been pissing me off in this thread hence the need to reply in the first place.

I never said that the West wasn't also guilty of objectifying women or over sexualizing female characters in games or movies. I just said that the over sexualized figurine, like most female Anime characters, was tailor made for the Japanese geek ideal.

Most of the negative Japan comments were tame. Don't think that just cause'  American crime rates are higher it means it means American culture is full of pedophilia. Maybe it's just the Geek cultures, but how can you say that all these random naked little anime girls pop up all over the place is not something wrong.

In the end the bare bones of the matter is, will you end up buying or will you not. I'm disturbed by how insulting people are being about that artists work and even his culture in here. I always knew is a serious large anti-anime amount of people on BSN but I would have hoped they had enough common sense to be respectful of the artist and his creations plus culture and nation.

I wouldn't be pissed off with people in here if they showed a modicum of respect for the artist and his culture. For example saying they don't like the face it looks too young and the breasts are bit too large for their liking is fine, insinuating only people who would want it are pedos is not. Saying it has an anime'esque feel about it is fine, saying anime is for freaks and geeks or horny teens or pervy old folk is not, just like insinuating that Japan is full of pedos or sexual deviants because they have more adult cartoons then say some random other nation does is also not fine.

Comments like those bug me and I should apologise if I come across as harsh but imho I have little tolerance of such comments which I guess you could call a personal flaw. I have met and know many Japanese people and I have never met a more respective decent, hardworking group of people. I couldn't list a single bad thing about any of the ones I have met and as a culture they herald from to produce people as polite and respectful as them must be a good thing compared to over here in the west where most of the people I have met wouldn't ****** on you if you was on fire and ****** was the only way to douse the flames they had. A majority of the western people I have met  would rather throw you into the road than walk around you on the pavement.

See, that's just the thing, you can't know. One country (the U.S.) is very open, and people still don't report every crime. Japan is not anywhere near as open as we are. So we can never know for sure. But what we do know is they have trains just for women, because enough of the country thought groping was the national passtime.
Before you say 'is that all I've got' just go look it up.

I think bioware is trying to appeal to the Japanese fans. If so go ahead and it's amazing how many hate anime so much(NOT sarcasm, im really baffled). don't like it don't buy it simple as that. This is what anime is get the **** over it it fine.

I'm actually quite fond of Japan, have lived there before, and am married to a Japanese woman. I'm also going back there in December to visit my in laws. I'm just not a fan of Anime, much of which does stray into 'hentai' territory. There are notable exceptions of course. Grave of the Fireflies for example is one of the best movies ever made. But I find that to be the exception rather than the rule.

Finally, your comment about people in the West not be willing to ****** on you if you were on fire shows a lack of familiarity with either Japan or Japanese culture. I do agree that the way the Japanese people responded to the tsunami was admirable and typical of their culture, and sadly had the same event occured in the West I'd expect to see a lot more selfish behavior and lawlessness.
 
But it is also a part of Japanese culture to not get involved in other people's problems. If you were involved in a bad car accident, you would be a lot more likely to have people pull over and render raid until police and medics got there in the US or Canada, then you would in Japan. Motorists passing by in Japan would call police or medics but they would not stop to help you. It's just not a part of their culture. There are exceptions of course, and I'm sure an event as apocalyptic in scale as the tsunami (for those involved), caused a lot of people to do things that would typically be at odds with what they would normally do. But generally speaking, your analogy couldn't be more wrong.
