I sincerely hope you realise hyperbole such as this does not help your argument in any way, and that you are the one who derailed this post into West vs East for no good reason? People might not like what you might like, imagine that.

Oh, the "I'm not racist, I have [ethnicity here] friends" line.
Where was I racist?
I can only criticize geeks and their ****** ideals if they happen to look like me? Otherwise, off limits?

My reply is regarding other peoples comments and in that sense of being a reply rather than original statement the part I bolded and underlined is inaccurate. As for the generalisation I made it was based on real life people I have met rather than assumptions about one's I have not. Hence the phrase "of the people I have met" as opposed to a blanket statement about everyone in the west.

True. Pavement is for my gas-guzzling SUV, damnit. I hate walking. If I have to walk, you better believe I'll be throwing people into traffic out of pure American rage and indignation.1136342t54 wrote...

I'm not sure what it is about Anime that triggers some overly obsessed fans to react to any criticism with a "Hurr Durr you are racist" reply. I'm sure most people who don't like Anime wouldn't like it if was being produced in the US or Canada either.
I mean, I can't imagine a similar overreaction if someone said they didn't like sushi or the new Toyota Corolla. What is it about Anime that some people feel a need to paint anyone who doesn't like it as racist?

Yet you still act as if it proves a point or something. Generalisations do nothing to help a case at any rate. And I would be curious as to where was that, because I visited a fair portion of the Western world (not the East sadly, budgets being what they are, still got some time however), and apart from a handful of pricks never encountered people so immediately dismissive of others. And even then, a few of them were just drunk.

I live in the UK which is part of the west, I have lived in both England, and Wales and both have people of the type I mentioned. In fact I have actually had people do just as I mentioned.

It's the general prevalent mindset (particularly on BSN, what with its pretentious attitudes about western RPGs and the rivalry with JRPG) of anime = hentai, which is how these conversations inevitably end up.Han Shot First wrote...

How many people here do you see saying something like "I watched the most annoying movie the other day, I HATE FILM! Who's with me!?"
None, because most people accept the obvious fact that one film they didn't like doesn't make all films bad. But you do get that attitude about the most innocuous cultural exports from Japan. Thus I conclude that BSN hates anything Japanese, and they just dress it up in "it all looks the same to me" rhetoric. Which is inherently problematic on its own.

I couldn't agree more. When topics even involving anything Japanese many ****** BSN posters sit around wanking off to the computer about their
While wanking Western superior or how I like to say (AMERICA **** YEAH) they will insult the culture for its ways (while somewhat true) its not like one of the more economically rich and successful countries got that way by being mired in their freaking ways. Now someone may think I'm all for Japan well that person can go screw themselves.
Japanese people are stubborn as all hell when it comes to gaming and even Anime but god dammit I enjoyed some of their games and Anime. Enough with the cultural wanking match people! Shut the hell up and at least go back to just talking about the figure only. While I like its detail the large boobs and child like face isn't for me so I'm not buying. /rant
