Only slightly more ridiculous than Liara's *ahem*... 'adjusted' proportions since LOTSB.

I dont really have a problem with the picture, as for the statue I dont like it much, perhaps it will be better when painted.

I like the Kotobukiya's Bishoujo line. I still covet their Black Cat and Ms. Marvel statues. They will be mine. Oh yes, they will be mine.

Tbh I don't like, though that doesn't mean others shouldn't. Even though I like anime as a general rule, I do find this sort of take on what I find to be a very respected female figure abit much, but each to their own. In the future I'd like to see a more realistic version cause it's a very good sculpture just not to my liking in the style sector

Guys... they're anime figurines... they're SUPPOSED to be over the top with sexuality. Just let the otakus have their fun.

bioware is asking for our opinion and we are simply giving it to them.
and i dont care what its suposed to be in dont like it because first its styled like some anime figure. the face is too young and the body looks like a 12 year old with a boob job.

"Boob job"? Don't you think that's a bit of an understatement, considering now it looks like she has a butt coming out of her chest?

I loved the concept art, dislike the finished result. In the concept art she's seemingly ready to strike quickly, even though she's currently relaxed. I understand her chest is protruding to look sexy, but it works cause it's not over the top at all. On the figure itself though those breasts are squeezed very tightly in between her arms, which emphasises her bosom in a very sexualised way I simply do not wish to support.

The concept art was beautiful, why couldn't they follow it? ;_;

BSN whines about everything though, it gets a little tiring after the popcorn is finished.

And you ever see what half of these figurines look like before they're finalised and painted? Like crap. And again, oversexualisation. It's like, necessary with anime figurines. I'd be concerned if she looked NORMAL considering the company.

You guys want 'normal' figurines? Tell Bioware to sell the rights to another company. You aren't getting that from these guys.

Might as well have just labelled it "Asari #3654325 in Liara's outfit" since it looks pretty much nothing like her.

I don't like the extreme oversexualisation but I understand thats just the art style, not my cup o' tea, however, that over exaggerated female features in combination with a face of a 10 year old girl makes me feel kind of uncomfortable.

I'm an otaku and I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole.

Shrink the boobs to a decent size and make the face actually look like who it's supposed to, ( as opposed to a 12 year old hooker ), and i'd probably buy one, but as it is...

No F-in way.

The only really wrong thing I see with the figurine is the face, the breasts are a matter of preference (even though I think they're a little too big) but I different strokes for different folks I guess.

I certainly think it's better than the previous figure line.

Maybe she used biotics to "touch up" a bit? Her bussom is indeed bit larger in that DLC.

Just do it like me... don't look at her face, just bit lower. Works like charm. No need to thank me. Image IPB

Things like this make it pretty hard to disprove the argument that for all their strength and characterization, all the mass media will ever care about when it comes to female characters is their sex appeal.
To be fair, I actually own a couple of these Bishojou statues (namely Catwoman and Wonder Woman) and I admit to being a little ashamed of that given that I usually oppose such things, but all the same I feel I need to address that to at least be at peace with myself.
They may fly in the face of what I believe in, but I still can't help but like them. I'm a complex person who is sometimes ashamed of himself.

Anyway as it stands, I don't like this. I'm not a huge Liara fan, but it is still kind of shameful to see her tarted up like this. She looks like a twelve year old girl with two giant waterballoons surgically attached to her chest. It's just ridiculous the degree of sex appeal they've shoved onto her. The original design was pretty sexualized as it was, but it's subtle compared to this.

Plus I really have an issue with the whole 'little girl face' thing she has, I mean I understand that 'Bishojou' is essentially 'pretty girl' in animation terms but jesus, she just looks like a kid. It's always been creepy to me the way people sexualize young girls, like with the 'raunchy schoolgirl outfit' and stuff in a similar vein. Plus I don't like how utterly weak and docile she looks.

That's my other problem with stuff like this, apart from taking strong female characters and reducing them to eye candy, we have to rob them of any inherent strength and make them look so soft and giggly and utterly non-threatening as well. I wouldn't mind sexualized female characters as much if they at least still came across as strong, but here she's had her image of strength and power removed from the picture.
I wouldn't be able to believe that this giggling schoolgirl with breast implants is the same woman who fought for two years against the greatest secret organization in the known galaxy and won, and although I'm not much of a fan of Liara, this still pisses me off.

But worse still, who's next? Maybe next time it'll be a female character who I am much more a fan of, will Ashley be made into a teen girl fantasy with big ****** and posing in such a way that suddenly all my complaints regarding her new 'sexy look' just seem petty? Will it be Jack next? Or Samara? Or Tali?

I admit, I'm probably overreacting here. A sexualized statue of a female character isn't SO bad and I actually am a little ashamed to admit that as bad as it made me feel if they made an Ashley one of these I would probably get it. If nothing else just for the sake of having Ashley in my collection. This isn't the worst thing that could happen to Mass Effect and no one is forcing me to look at it.

All the same, this isn't great.

Yeah they can just keep that away from us. They do not need to give us a Liara with a little girl's face and big boobs.
